Claudia - ok for little girl?

Is Claudia too harsh a name for a baby girl? I like it but can't quite imagine anyone under 40 carrying it off...

I really like the name Claudia - my other half wasn't too keen though .........

I like the name, but can see that it's not really a baby name.

However, I think that it's better to have a name that works when you're an adult than to have a lovely baby name that's never going to seem properly grown up.

She'll be an adult a lot longer than she'll be a child so don't let the fact it isn't babyish put you off. It's actually a positive.

Love it. You could always use 'Claudie' as a baby nn - as in the actress Claudie Blakie.

If you're going for the 'claw dee ah' pronouciation that is Grin

I think it sounds too harsh, for both a child and an adult tbh. I think it's the claw-dia pronunciation. It's the claw sound that puts me off.

I think it's fine for a baby.

And even if some people think it's slightly too 'adult' for a baby, she'll grow into it.

The meaning would put me off. Claudia is derived from the latin claudus meaning disabled/lame. I would hate my dd to find out the meaning of such a name, sorry.

Nobody gives a shit about meanings of names in real life - there might be a moment when she is 12 when she and her friends look up meanings of names and she thinks "Claudia...lame...well, that's a bugger" and then she will get on with her life. Some of the most popular names have crap meanings but doesn't put anyone off.

Claudia is a beautiful name.

The 'lame' thing wouldn't put me off it at all to be honest. The only name I would run a mile from due to its meaning is Pippa as it's currently used in more than one country as a slang word for various sex acts.
