Time's up! My due date is just days away and I still can't settle on a name. I think it's going to be one of these. Could I trouble you for a straw poll? I can't call her BabyX forever...

Cordelia - of course Grin

Notmyidea · 12/09/2013 19:48

Cordelia is lovely, as is Tabitha (I have one and nobody is allowed to call her Tabby.) I don't like Eliza as it's a bit kitchen maid. Clara I like but the first Clara I think of is Dr. Who's current companion.

Jemimapuddleduk · 12/09/2013 20:32

Loving Cordelia- nn Delia or Dilly.
I think Clara is gorgeous and elegant.
I find Eliza quite harsh, not sure why.
Tabitha is pretty and unusual

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny · 12/09/2013 20:32

Love Clara

PatioDweller · 12/09/2013 20:38

I know a 3yr old Cordelia whose parents call her, Cordy.

ChocolateChuckle · 12/09/2013 20:46

All lovely but Cordelia is my favourite

ToffeeCaramel · 12/09/2013 21:00

Clara or Eliza

CheshireDing · 12/09/2013 21:25

All lovely but I prefer the last two names.

ChocChaffinch · 12/09/2013 21:28

nightcircus · 12/09/2013 22:17

Clara
Eliza

Tabitha

Cordelia

My preference:

  1. Cordelia - adore, not used much, classic but pretty, can be Cordie for short or Delia/Dilly
  2. Clara - OK, not too common anymore
  3. Eliza - really don't like, I know a lot of very bossy/spolit Eliza/Elises which put me off
  4. Tabitha - really dislike
Pikey78 · 12/09/2013 23:34

My daughter is called Clara. I have met a few other Claras (in London) but they tend to be Spanish.

elcranko · 13/09/2013 00:10

Eliza or Tabitha.

fanjodisfunction · 13/09/2013 12:02

Cordelia

OrangeOpalFruit · 13/09/2013 12:43

I like them all except Tabitha. It gets shortened to Tab or Tabby which is North East slang for a cigarette and sounds terrible as a name if you're familiar with that usage.

UPDATE

I know we all enjoy an update so...

Baby Cordelia Rose (Cora) for short was born a couple of weeks ago. We named her something else to start with - Claudia - but I regretted it from day 1 and so, with some embarrassment and a lot of courage, I've decided to change it.

Planning to spread the word today. Sure everyone will think me mad but I just couldn't get Claudia into my head.

Please tell me you like it and approve the switch!!

Dylemma · 30/09/2013 13:45

And as you can see I changed my MN name too!!

CordeliaRose · 30/09/2013 14:45

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!
Fabulous name - I would say that, of courseGrin

Dylemma · 30/09/2013 14:55

Grin Is that your real name or a MN name?

Lovely. I feel SO much better for making my mind up - pour baby has been called Baby for too long.

Hormones, grrrrr Grin

CordeliaRose · 30/09/2013 15:23

It's my MN-BabyNames-thread name!
I love my real name, but it has been slagged off on some threads as being mumsy and dated! Mind you, I am a gimmer, as I've come to realise since joining MN!
It's so hard to name a baby, isn't it? We only have one DC and found it hard to find a boy's name. We called him James - which we both loved, but that seemed such a grown up name for a baby that we 'nicknamed' him Jamie. He's now 21 and 6ft 3 - and is still Jamie!

Enjoy your baby Cora - bet she's gorgeous!

FellatioNelson · 30/09/2013 15:25

Cordelia or Tabitha
