Amber, Minnie, or Nancy...?

I'm 37 weeks and we still cant decide on a girl's name! Our boys names are Sonny or Leo... leaning towards Sonny.

Shortlist for girls is:

Amber
Minnie (short for Yasmin)
Nancy

Which do you prefer?

Nancy.

Yasmin nice too but only with longer version on bc. Don't mind diminutives on the bc but Minnie is just too cutesy as a full name.

Meringue33 · 01/09/2013 10:12

Like all but Amber is often a hairdresser faux name...

Yasmin is lovely. Nancy is short for Agnes, both are lovely.

MadeOfStarDust · 01/09/2013 10:13

as a former dinner lady I'd avoid Minnie - some of the girls used it as a nickname for their private parts.. may make for some sniggering....

ExcuseTypos · 01/09/2013 10:15

Love Nancy.

Don't really like Amber- it's a colour.

I wouldn't choose Minnie for the reason as MadeOf.

RustyBear · 01/09/2013 10:34

I love Amber, but then I am rather biased (see profile photos!)
I have never known a hairdresser called Amber, let alone a 'faux' one, whatever that means, DD is a (very successful) recruitment consultant!

I like Nancy too, but would prefer Yasmin to Minnie - and you may well find your DD would too as she gets older - one thing you can never control is what teenagers call themselves/their friends!

Bowlersarm · 01/09/2013 10:35

Nancy

MrsBungle · 01/09/2013 10:41

Amber. I really dislike Minnie and Nancy is not at all my cup of tea.

commsgirl · 01/09/2013 10:45

Love Nancy! Amber is also nice. Minnie isn't my cup of tea at all I'm afraid.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 01/09/2013 11:07

Nancy for me - I love the sound, the lovely vintage feel, and the reminder of the Oliver musical, in which her namesake is lovely!

Amber is a bit 90's for me, and Minnie is a common term for "girl parts" so I wouldn't choose it.

Writerwannabe83 · 01/09/2013 11:11

Nancy is lovely, and both your boy's names are fantastic too! Smile

melliebobs · 01/09/2013 11:12

I love Nancy but I'm biased. That's my DDs name Smile

DeeLighted · 01/09/2013 11:17

Nancy is lovely.

Minnie is slang for vagina round here so would avoid that one!

EnjoyEverySandwich · 01/09/2013 15:13

Nancy by a mile

Leeds2 · 01/09/2013 15:52

Yasmin, but steer well clear of Minnie!

squoosh · 01/09/2013 16:37

Amber.

AKissIsNotAContract · 01/09/2013 16:39

I like Minnie but wouldn't use it as it's the new version of Fanny.

LauraChant · 01/09/2013 16:39

Nancy

Ifancyashandy · 01/09/2013 16:42

Nancy.

Minnie is too twee and I think Amber is the 'Tracey' of the future.

ch1134 · 01/09/2013 16:54

Minnie was my great grandmother and I think it's great

Nancy is my name and it is tremendous, obviously Wink. It seems to be having a renaissance at the moment but not ultra common.

Be warned, you will call her Nancy-Pants. Or Nance.

hettienne · 01/09/2013 20:54

Minnie makes me think vagina too unfortunately!

Nancy and Amber are both lovely though.

RhondaJean · 01/09/2013 20:56

Amber - was on teen mom, not very pleasant and mentally ill too.

Minnie - is a mouse.

Nancy - was used by David Cameron. Nuff said.

How about Rhonda? Grin

melliebobs · 01/09/2013 22:01

soultrain you are dead right!!!! Me and dh have both ended up calling dd nancy-pants before we heard the other one call it her Grin no idea where it came from! But she responds to it. I've heard nursery staff call her that as well. And nancy-noodle which is what my mum first started saying but I've reverted her to pants Grin
