A brother for Arthur?

I really cannot think of any boys names. I would have liked to have chosen a name that had links to our family but I don't like any of the names our previous generations had (except Arthur, which I have already used!) also, I thought I should avoid anything too old man-ish in case it looks like a theme? Maybe I should go wildly modern with an oonike spelling Grin? We are welsh btw and baby will have a welsh middle name but I have lots of those that I like.
Help!!!

Henry, Edward (nn Ned, Ted, Ed), George (my personal favourite to go with Arthur. Don't think they're too old man-ish.

Other possibilities that I'm not so keen on but you may like - Milo, Jasper, Casper.

I do like George but I already called the cat that, plus worried about the whole prince George effect?

Edward could work well.....

I have been thinking of James with nn Jim but can't picture a baby Jim....

Edward was the first name that came to mind

Clargo55 · 30/08/2013 21:37

James is lovely and goes well with Arthur. I have never heard it be shortened to Jim, it's great as it is.

forevergreek · 30/08/2013 21:38

Conrad

peppapigmustdie · 30/08/2013 21:44

James was the first name to come to me.
William, Charles (nn Charlie), Reggie, Albert if you don't mind both names beginning with A.

littlemog · 30/08/2013 22:27

Sam?

Biscuitsneeded · 30/08/2013 22:40

Bill?

littlemog · 30/08/2013 22:42

I teach a little Bill and even though it almost seemed like too grown up a name for a 12 year old at first, it really, really suits him. I was just more used to Wills and the odd Billy. Good name!

sleepingbeautiful · 31/08/2013 00:07

Edwin (or Edwyn for the Welsh sp) or Selwyn sound like they might have hung out with a dashing ye olde Arthur...

CarriMarie · 31/08/2013 00:25

Stanley.

Mutteroo · 01/09/2013 00:25

My friend had a Jim, not a James & he was a gorgeous baby Jim!

Mrsindecision · 01/09/2013 06:31

James is a great name. Don't worry about nn's as they will evolve organically. The nn's we ended up calling our dc as babies had no obvious connection with their actual names!

evamummy · 01/09/2013 07:15

Isn't James Arthur a singer?

How about Arthur & Quentin, or Arthur & Reuben?

There will be no "Prince George effect", any more than there was a "Prince William effect". The name George is already going through one of its cycles of popularity.

Now since you brought up the royal connection: Queen Victoria named one of her sons Arthur. His brothers were Albert, Alfred and Leopold.

argylesocks · 01/09/2013 15:44

The little Arthur I know has a brother William. I like the combination.
