DS1 is an Oscar and he is completely awesome.

So on that basis alone I think you should use it.

HTH Grin

peachypips · 29/08/2013 19:30

I love it. I don't know any.

Pachacuti · 29/08/2013 19:43

Given that Writerwannabe83 is (I'm guessing) 29 or 30 and that Oscar is a name that is most likely to belong to a boy under 10 I'm hoping that she's reasonably unlikely to be dating an Oscar for a good while yet; so probably a good thing that she doesn't fancy the idea.

princesscupcakemummyb · 29/08/2013 19:54

Lovely name and not too popular - think there's only 2 in DS's school.

elQuintoConyo · 29/08/2013 20:17

mimitwo very good point.

wannabewriter83 odfod

One of my best friends is called Angelita (little angel) perhaps I should not have even got to the shake-hands-pleased-to-meet-you stage and run away tittering like a prissy tit instead? Hmm

legallyblond · 29/08/2013 20:32

I like it, but yes v popular. Three people in my department at work (about 40 people) have used it (2 within last year, 1 has a four yo)... All three are secretaries (legal secretaries) if that sways anything at all....

Writerwannabe83 · 29/08/2013 20:46

Prrincesscupcake

All my comments were made in the absolute lightest of humours, I promise Smile

As someone has rightly said, I'm not of an age where I would be dating an Oscar and I'm sure when your Oscar is of a dating age it may well be one of them sexiest boys names there is!! Grin

If you love it, go for it. You will always meet some people who like it and some who don't, but that's just life I guess Smile

Best of luck with your birth x x

I like the spelling with a K - it looks a bit more masculine Smile

elQuintoConyo · 29/08/2013 22:04

...and you just couldn't fancy someone with an unsexy name? What's that twat called in 50 Shades? (I haven't read it).

If I have a second DS I'll be sure to give him a 'sexy' name - any suggestions, 83 ?

Sorry to be arguing on your thread, OP. Good luck with the birth, may your DS be as happy and healthy as mine Thanks

Writerwannabe83 · 29/08/2013 22:06

The twat in 50 shades is called Christian - and it always sticks out because one of my exes was called Christian and he was a vile human being. I loved his name though and it did actually make him more appealing to me. And look where that got me Grin

fancyanother · 29/08/2013 22:11

I like Oscar. FWIW, I chose my second favourite name for DS1 because the first name was too common- now he is at school, there are 4 children in his year with the same name as him and I hear it all over the place ( it suits him better though Smile ) whereas I only hear the other name occasionally!!

princesscupcakemummyb · 30/08/2013 17:24

thanks all i see we all think diffrent of course which is why its nice to ask what others think Smile

littlemog · 30/08/2013 20:11

Oscar is a great name. I teach quite a few but it is less common than Charlie or George. Lots of those!

littlemog · 30/08/2013 20:11

Lots of Henrys too.

Chottie · 30/08/2013 20:14

I know one Oscar and he is south American :)

Tea1Sugar · 31/08/2013 16:17

Nickname ozzy?! Not my cuppa tea in afraid.

rosyryan · 01/09/2013 10:28

I seem to know all 3000 of the Oscars born last year.
