Dc3 is due in early October and we're stuck for a girl's name. I like flower names (dd is a Primrose) and the fact that Mimosa is fairly unusual, I also like mini / mimi for short.

Have you ever read the Princess Poppy books? If you had repeatedly every night for 18 months you would go right off all flower names.

Rhubarbgarden · 29/08/2013 10:02

I think it's a beautiful name. The American cocktail thing wouldn't bother me. However, it is a bit similar to Primrose.

Rhubarbgarden · 29/08/2013 10:02

How about Dahlia or Azalea?

lljkk · 29/08/2013 10:03

I thought it was a type of samosa.... Blush

squoosh · 29/08/2013 10:16

First thing I think of is the drink, didn't even know it was the name of a flower.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 29/08/2013 10:29

I thought cocktail sorry.

Mamatomanymunchkins · 29/08/2013 10:29

I love it ~ different and very pretty x

LegArmpits · 29/08/2013 10:32

It sounds like a foof.

LillyNotOfTheValley · 29/08/2013 10:48

My favourite brunch cocktail too, sorry. Like Azalea though, cute on a child and plenty of cool/serious nn for later (Az, Aza, Zaza, Lea...)

macthecatsmum · 29/08/2013 12:21

It's a bit...... If you like Mimi go with that.

LazyMonkeyButler · 29/08/2013 12:26

Glad you said that first lljkk, I didn't want to sound stupid but I thought it was like a samosa too Blush.

PistachioTruffle · 29/08/2013 13:12

It's a pretty word, but remind sme of the cocktail too and a little too similar to primrose.

How about camellia?

Writerwannabe83 · 29/08/2013 16:59

I'm another one whose first thought was Simosa!!!! Grin

I love a good curry!!!

lililon · 29/08/2013 17:25

Thanks all for your opinions. I think it's a big No for Mimosa! I now really like Zinnia, Willow and Dahlia - great suggestions!

I didn't know about the drink, I think it's a nice name, but Mim-os is almost the same sound pattern as Primrose.

I quite like Veronica as a flower name.

Yonionekanobe · 29/08/2013 19:48

My first thought was, 'yes please.'

Dackyduddles · 29/08/2013 19:53

Blimey my only experience of mimosa was as a flower and as part of a black and white horror film. Every time the heroine smelt it something bad happened. Dead ex wife haunting new but really other family members type story. Flipping good. Hairs on arms raised now!

Jemima! Mimi still works, or GiGi

Tiredemma · 29/08/2013 19:55

Reminds me of the 3* All Inclusive hotel that I used to work in in palma nova.

Dackyduddles · 29/08/2013 19:56

Zinnia? Character in Disney channel Zou programme about a family of zebras. Zou is lead and zinnia is his cousin. Uptight ballerina. Hideous character.

Zou is short for bizou, which I think is French for kiss. Preparing to be corrected......

Dackyduddles · 29/08/2013 19:56

Omg I've stayed there!!!!

Dackyduddles · 29/08/2013 19:57

Willow. That's it. Perfect name chosen.

Lol ;)

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 31/08/2013 15:04

Zinnia is nice but along with Primrose it's a bit darling buds of may...

borraxohastaelalmanacer · 31/08/2013 15:18

Mimosa is used in Spanish to describe someone who is very affectionate. It's a positive word but is quite 'cute-sy'.

climbers · 31/08/2013 16:20

I'm sure it IS a curry llkjj? Off to google...

miffybun73 · 31/08/2013 18:06

I just think of champagne and orange juice.
