Harriet or Charlotte

I'm booked in for a c-section tomorrow morning and I am really struggling to decide on a name for DD2.

I am leaning towards Harriet but DH much prefers Charlotte.

Any thoughts?

Charlotte will always prompt a rendition of 'Charlotte the harlot' by most people I know.

Charlotte is a timeless beautiful name - definitely my fave!

Epically unhelpful but I really love both! Both are on my list for our 27 week pink bean.

I think poss Harriet gets the edge for being less well used..

Charlotte. It was rather popular about 15 years ago but not too many babies are given the name now so it won't be loads of them in her generation.

Charlotte is a really pretty name imo.

Harriet, Hattie is so old hat (see what I did there?..ahem). Now Harrie on the otherhand.......

Actually I know a lot of little Charlottes (just rattled through ten under 5 in my head), not as many Harriets (4), but it's still popular. My age not so many, and to be honest I don't really like my name (sorry). This might not bother you, but one of my children (accidently!) has a very popular name. She and I both hate it being so prolific. Especially as she is alway known as Name + Surname (as there is more than one with the same surname initial). Or if people say to her face in a bored tone - 'oh another one'.

I wish I was called Josephine (only if pronounced in an French accent) or Kate.

I prefer Charlotte, but think both names are really lovely. I personally wouldn't worry about the popularity. My daughter has an uncommon name and there are 2 in her class! Just go for the one that feels right when you meet her. Good luck!

Or decide name and wait to see the baby and then decide neither name is a go-er! Back to the drawing board!

Thanks everyone for your input, our little girl, Charlotte Yuen Yie Surname was born at 12.29 today and she is gorgeous (biased mother!).

I'm currently enjoying some lovely newborn cuddles and she seems to suit her name (DH is ethnically Chinese hence the Yuen Yie middle name before that causes a stir!)

Aw congratulations you picked the right name! By Dd is Charlotte, also born by elective section. Everybody loves her name and we don't know a single other Charlotte here. It is certainly not boring or done to the death.
