Advice needed! I love this name and even after researching zillions of other names, it keeps coming back to me. My husband was up for it (which is good going since he likes Molly, Milly, Rosie etc) BUT he only just realised the spelling. It's not American, it's because of the Latin 'honoria' for honour. He makes a fair point that people might get confused with spelling. Please let me know what you generally think of name and if you think spelling will be an issue! Thanks

Love it - one of my favourites. It's pretty but strong and neither too 'out there' nor too common. Have only ever seen it spelt Honor, and think most people would recognise this spelling. Go for it - it's infinitely better than Molly/Milly et al!

EaudeChl0e · 25/08/2013 18:19

Love it! the name is spelled Honor. My friend has one and I think people just know that the name is Honor and the word is Honour. Don't worry! It's a gorgeous name.

valiumredhead · 25/08/2013 19:28

I know an Honor, she's 18 now. Lovely name.

Frontdoorstep · 25/08/2013 19:42

Yes, that's how Honor for a name should be spelt, I think people will recognise this, you'll be fine.

AnnaD2 · 25/08/2013 20:05

I have a little Honor who is 6 months old. Most people (particularly older than us) seem to know how to spell it. A couple of people have pronounced it with an audible 'H' but I try to ignore that! Glad I chose it and reactions have generally been good!

I considered this for DD. However I was in the park one day and heard a mother calling her little girl and thought it was too grown up and a no nonsense type name and crossed it off my list. V odd reallly as I'm not into the Milly/Molly tupe names at all. Am now expecting DD2 and of all the names on the original list, this is one of two that I still like.

looki · 25/08/2013 23:57

Ps excuse the typos, I'm posting from my phone and my fingers are clumsy!!

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/08/2013 01:26

I like it.

Sadly can never use it as it sounds like a command with my dp's surname and moderately rude with mine.

valiumredhead · 26/08/2013 12:32

Oooo I'm intriguedGrin

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 26/08/2013 17:35

I like it

I think that people who don't know how to spell it might also not know how to spell "Honour"

Ali

Is your surname "Knees"

DuchessFanny · 26/08/2013 17:39

I have a niece Honor and it's a lovely name that really suits her. It's a name I hadn't come across before, but it's now a favourite, and has suited her as a baby, toddler and now pre teen. Timeless and pretty.

Biscuitsneeded · 26/08/2013 17:57

Lovely name.

Bowlersarm · 26/08/2013 18:09

I love it.

Honor is how it is spelt, as a name.

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/08/2013 18:41

I share a name with a type of British apple (well known one).

It sounds like a rude command rather than being a play on words type things.

curiousgeorgie · 26/08/2013 18:44

It's lovely...

It's Jessica Albas daughter if that matters to you at all...

valiumredhead · 26/08/2013 20:07

Oh, ha ha haGrin Shock

Cassieyellow · 26/08/2013 21:40

Thank you all - super helpful and husband now content. Hurrah !!! We'll probably throw in a more cutsie middle name to 'soften' it as surname quite harsh.
Ali- that's hilarious!! Sorry though!

Thanks again everyone.

I have a name thats spelled a few different ways mine being the second most common way I was just trained to say lola with and L (except my name ob) I have had a few people tell me I've spelt my name wrong though which is a bit weird.

Gerty1002 · 28/08/2013 12:41

My friend has an Honor Grace - a few people mispell it or pronounce the 'H' but she largely has no problems.
