Jemima

chattychattyboomba · 22/08/2013 11:26

Really don't like jemima. Harriet and Georgia are lovely.

chattychattyboomba · 22/08/2013 11:27

Oh just realised it's Georgina... No I don't like the 'Gina' part...

DropYourSword · 22/08/2013 11:30

I think Jemima is my favourite of the three - really cute!

Viviennemary · 22/08/2013 11:30

They are all fine names. I think I prefer Georgiana to Georgina.

Biased, as I have a Jemima!

She gets called Mima or Jem for short.

I liked the rag-doll in Play Schoool, plus Puddleduck connections when she was small, and the sophisticated Jemima Shore detective/ Jemima Goldsmith Khan for an older model.

There's Aunt Jemima's pancake syrup with a large black woman on the packaging, but otherwise I never came across any negative connotations.

(She was almost a Georgia)

noodlebum · 22/08/2013 12:30

Love Harriet!

noodlebum · 22/08/2013 12:31

Also, I like Georgiana, as a suggestion Smile

Mrsindecision · 22/08/2013 12:47

The name Jemima doesn't have any bad connotations here in the UK, but sadly it has been very badly tarnished in North America (and some of South America) thanks to the "Aunt Jemima" brand which carries very strong negative racial connotations. As a result, in the States, Jemima is a name forever associated with racism and is therefore never used. This would be enough for me to not choose it for a dd as I would want a name I felt I would be proud to say anywhere in the world and that wouldn't be a problem for her if she decided to study/live in North America one day! I do still really like the name, and feel it's such a shame it has this association as it would have been a strong contender for me otherwise!

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 22/08/2013 14:18

Jemima

Saffyz · 22/08/2013 15:12

Georgina

BlueShirtBlueTie · 22/08/2013 15:53

Out of all of them I prefer Georgina, though not really keen on any of them tbh.

AKissIsNotAContract · 23/08/2013 09:41

Harriet

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 23/08/2013 16:21

I prefer Georgia to Georgina , its a little more girlie to me , I have a 6 yr old Georgia so I'm biased :)

comedaygoday · 23/08/2013 16:29

They are all good choices, but I prefer Jemima.

Wishfulmakeupping · 23/08/2013 21:24

I'm another one who prefers Georgia to Georgina.
If that's not an option then Harriet is very nice

FootOfOurStairs · 23/08/2013 21:30

Jemima is a biblical/hebrew name meaning dove. It is a family name for us and has been used as a female James, but incorrectly as I found out when looking at names for our dds. I really like it.

I love Harriet too, but strongly dislike Georgina for some reason.

Wafflenose · 23/08/2013 21:33

Jemima

HarumScarum · 23/08/2013 21:36

Love Harriet.

VivClicquot · 23/08/2013 21:39

I too am biased as I have a Jemima, but it's a bloody brilliant name. Do it. Wink
