Similar sounds or letter combos in first and surnames?

I always loved the name Eve but my surname is Evans and I just don't think it's a good combo :( a few people have said it works but what do you guys think?

Same for Olive. It was my beloved grandmother's name so I have always wanted to use it somehow, but with Evans? Ugh.

Sorry but I don't think either Eve or Olive go with your surname. It's the E and v of Eve making it sound really similar, and the v in Olive. However Olivia Evans sound better somehow to me as you have the extra 'a' to make the names flow better.

My surname ends in an n and I think that loads of names ending in an n don't sound right with my surname, making me rule lots of lovely names out!

Eve Evans doesn't work. Olive Evans is a bit better but still not great.

The problem is that it's hard to distinguish them as separate names rather than Evevans and Olivevans.

Actually I know several people who have done this kind of thing! Eg in my DS1's class there is one boy with first name and surname both ending in ley and another with both names including the letters edd. I think it can have quite a nice alliterative ring to it.

Having said that, I think Eve Evans is just too similar - almost comically so. But Olive Evans is fine IMO. My grandmother was called Olive too!

I like names with assonance or alliteration, all of the names on my list had this. Eve Evans is hard to say though so it detracts from the nice name, Olive Evans is better.
What about something beginning with a V to carry the sound?

Ahh much as I thought, thank you guys!
Typical - I hated my surname growing up and said I would marry a man with a "normal, boring" surname. Now I have and my favourite names would sound great with my interesting maiden name Wink
