Which do you prefer? Tatum (Tate) Natalya (Tully) Alessia (essie)

Opinions and other alternative suggestions appreciated.

Dh wants something substantial on the birth cert so the full names are my compromises.

We will however be using the nicknames primarily from birth.

Surname is 2 syllables 'flowery' type so I didn't want anything too feminine.

My DSD is Natalya, but gets Nats from her friends, Tally from her Mum and Talya from the younger members of the family who can't pronounce her name!

You can choose nicknames and build from there, plenty of people do that, but I think it tends to only work with reasonable derivatives. So you can want a Beth and then decide whether you want Bethan, Bethany or Elizabeth. Or you can want an Ellie and choose between Eleanor, Elinor or Eleanora.

The nn's you like, while nice, feel forced out of the longer names, if that makes sense?

(Also, as a lisper, I think Essie might be the hardest to pronounce name I've ever heard! )

I love Esther. It's much nicer than the others.

I think Natalya is pretty, but if you're set on the nn Tully I think it may be misheard/mispronounced as Tally (which I personally like, but you may not).

Alessia is pretty, as is Essie.

I am happy with the long names now and I love them with Margaret as a middle name.

Tbh if the nicknames don't stick I'm am fine with that.

I think natalya, alessia and Tatum are all very nice names and I would be proud to name my daughter any of them.

Which is good as we have had such a headache coming to a short list that we agree on :)

I prefer Alessia of the three.

I like Alessia not so keen on Essie though as nn (and does not seem a natural nn). I suspect she may get called Alex which is not a bad nn. In Italy Alessia would get shortened to Ale (allay).

Natalya ok but again I think Nat would end up being a more likely nn. Prefer Natalia as a spelling though.

Agree you can't choose a name based on what you think will be her nickname. My nn at school was 'carrot' (no I don't have red hair!) so there is no way of knowing what she will end up calling herself/being called.
