I love Ruby, dh isn't keen tho (edd jan)

Spindelina · 10/08/2013 13:01

How would you pronounce Lila/Lilah?

The fact I have to ask means you will be answering that question a lot. Which may or may not bother you.

NothingsLeft · 10/08/2013 13:05

Marnie and Lila are my favourites. Olive is nice too but reminds me if popeye.

pygmy · 10/08/2013 13:08

Iris

pygmy · 10/08/2013 13:09

or Olive

Ruprekt · 10/08/2013 13:09

Iris is lovely. SmileSmile

Danielle1588 · 10/08/2013 13:16

Lilah is lovely! Girly and trendy, it's 2013 so go for a different modern name not iris.

ImaginaryHat · 10/08/2013 13:20

Marnie, Iris or Lila for me

Rhubarbgarden · 10/08/2013 13:41

I like Iris. Olive is ok. I dislike the others.

miffybun73 · 10/08/2013 13:47

Lila or Marnie for me.

ZolaBuddleia · 10/08/2013 13:49

I like these ones:
Marnie
Iris
Halle/Hallie
Lila/Lilah

Thumbwitch · 10/08/2013 13:50

Ruby - too many of them around these days, IMO
Léa - like it but prefer Léonie
Olive - nah, Olive Oyl
Marnie - like it
Iris - it's ok
Halle/Hallie - like the first spelling, not the second
Lila/Lilah - Leela, or Ly-la? I know a Lila pronounced Lee-la, I also know a Leila pronounced the same way, although it can also be pronounced Lay-la.

Corkle · 10/08/2013 15:26

I love Léonie but other half not keen at all :( not sure about the pronunciation of Lila as I like both lee-la (as would be pronounced in French and German meaning purple so I like that...) but a 'h' on the end would make it lie-la (which I actually prefer the sound of...)
Not sure if the accent on Léa is a bit pretentious but I prefer Lay - a to Lee-a

OP posts:
MoonHare · 10/08/2013 15:49

Iris is my favourite from your list.

Lilah is nicer than Lee-la imo.

Léa - could spell it Laya or Layah?? If you aren't sure about the accent, which I don't think is pretentious but I don't think it will stop people pn it Lee-ah anyway. I always just hear Layer anyway, not so pretty.

Queazy · 10/08/2013 18:13

Iris and Olive are my favourites on the list Smile

formicadinosaur · 10/08/2013 19:16

Olive is classic

OutragedFromLeeds · 10/08/2013 19:46

Ruby - ok, will date badly I think, too popular.

Léa - I like Lee-uh, not Lay-uh (too star warsy). I would spell it Leah or Laya though. Léa is asking for mispronunciation/misspelling.

Marnie - love, but don't use it because I don't want it to get too popular before I get a chance to use it Grin

Lila/Lilah - I like the pronunciation 'lie-la', would go for spelling Lila.

I'm not keen on Olive, Iris or Halle/Hallie.

FoxyRoxy · 11/08/2013 14:10

Leia instead of Léa? I prefer Lila for lie-la pronounciation and Leila for lay-la pronounciation. I like all the names on your list though.

kiwik · 11/08/2013 23:42

I like Olive and Iris.
Not keen on any of the others on your list.

Saffyz · 12/08/2013 04:04

I like Ruby, Léa and Marnie.

Castlelough · 12/08/2013 04:17

Marnie is gorgeous!
Prefer Olivia to Olive, and Lila (Lie-la) to other versions.
The other names are nice except Halle and the spelling of Léa...
