Just that really.. we've only got a couple of weeks to go and cannot decide for either gender. Happy with other suggestions for girls too. Boy names we've considered include barney, Samuel, and that's about it..

We need help!

Georgina. It's a lovely classic name and underused.

SE13Mummy · 09/08/2013 22:34

Are you particularly looking for girls names that have tomboyish nicknames e.g. George, Harry, Jem? If so, Matilda (Matty), Francesca (Frankie), Charlotte (Charlie) and Judith (Jude) are other possibilities.

For boys, Samuel is lovely. How about James, Max, Luke, Joseph or Michael?

SE13Mummy · 09/08/2013 22:35

Btw, I should declare myself the parent of a Harriet - not chosen specifically because it could become Harry in time to come. Ours tends to go by Hattie.

Wishfulmakeupping · 09/08/2013 22:36

Agree with rice I prefer Georgia to Georgina too. Out if the 3 Harriet is the nicest.

Bumblebee78 · 09/08/2013 22:54

I like all 3. We met someone with a daughter called jemima and they called her mimes which i liked. I like caitlin, genevieve, katrina, alexa for a girl, and james, rory, or dougie for a boy. Our first child didnt have a name for about 10 days, we didnt know what would suit. Why not wait and see? The rule we went by was a name that would suit a politician, poet and popstar, then you cant go much wrong.

Harriet is a fab name!

sleepingbeautiful · 10/08/2013 05:01
  1. Harriet
  2. Georgina

I used to like Jemima but fell out with it on learning the North American context of the name.

AuntyPippaAndUncleHarry · 10/08/2013 05:09

All your suggestions lovely. If had to pick one from your three would go for Georgina. Slightly prefer to Harriet. Had a friend called Jemima who spent her time saying "it's not Gemma, it's Jemima".
Boys names I hope you like based on two you have given - Milo, Casper, Jasper, Edward/Ed/Teddy, Alexander, Arthur. Of the two you give I prefer Samuel.

poocatcherchampion · 10/08/2013 06:22

thank you this is helpful.

boyswise George and James and Robert are already used. dh likes bible names, I should have said Barney short for Barnabas. Noah was a possibility last time but neither of us feels it any more. I like Christopher nn kit as well. he doesn't.

girls wise his choice has been Jemima I prefer the other two hattie/Hetty as a nn for Harriet. also like Matilda, Tabitha (although that is kind of lined up for dd3 randomly) and a couple of others but can't remember them now.

dd1 is Rosie I should have said. really suits her.

thanks!!!

Jemima Puddleduck. Not good.

CheshireDing · 10/08/2013 22:02

I like the girls names, would possibly prefer Georgia or Georgina though (either way she would probably end up as George anyway by her friends!).

What about Henrietta? The nn could still be Hetty then too.

I wanted Barnaby/similar on our list but DH says it's a dopey purple dinosaur, sorry.

PeriodMath · 11/08/2013 23:41

I know 2 yr old Henrietta who goes by Hettie.
