Seth or Zeph?

Hi- which out of Seth or Zeph, short for Zephaniah? We probably prefer Zeph to Seth but is the full version just too much to saddle a child with? Not keen on using nn's as full names so would want to have the full name on the birth certificate even if we never use it. Would love to hear any input. THank you!

I Love Zeph/Zephaniah.

Thanks! do you think that Zephaniah is too much/ he will be embarrassed about his name in years to come, or do you think there's a chance it will become popular? Thanks v much for your reply.

Bloody love Zeph. Love Seth too, but its rising popularity would put me off.

There's a Zebedee who read the news on Radio 4, he's done alright with an unusual 'Z' name. Grin

Seth.

Love Zeph.

Not sure about Zephaniah though. Are there any other options? Joseph nn Zeph?

sandwichyear · 09/08/2013 01:46

thanks!
Joseph is a good idea- hmmm. let me think on that one. I don't love the name in and of itself, but it is less crazy than zephaniah...

I like Seth a lot.
Zephaniah seems like a bit of a mouthful, and I think Zeph may be misheard as Seth.

I'm considering Ezekiel, to be known as Zeke, which is in a similar vein.

hawkmcqueen · 09/08/2013 07:33

You could use Zephyr, which is what lady from country file called her son I think...

OutragedFromLeeds · 09/08/2013 10:22

I like Zephyr better than Zephaniah. I like Zeke as well, but it does make me think of Neighbours.

Seth

In my accent Seth isn't even one full syllable, and if said in a sentence, the listener would almost certainly need it to be repeated. However most variations of accents in England and Wales would make it sound better.
