so after lots of discussion and shortlists and vetos we have a list of names both dh and i are ok with (no small feat, our tastes in girls names are pretty opposite)

but now it comes to choosing one im wavering. theyre all ok but i dont LOVE them and i have drawbacks wih each.

so ive turned to MN, tell me why theyre fab and help me fall in love with one?

middle name will be a family name which sounds like Annie. last name starts with an S.

the shortlist is;

Emmeline
Ingrid
Juliet/Juliette

Juliet, by a country mile.

1)it's beautiful,
2)feminine but not too frilly or fussy.
3)everyone is familiar with it but it isn't that commonly used.
4)strong literary connection

I love Ingrid. Elegant, reasonably unusual, old-school film-star glamour, less frilly than Juliet or Emmeline and less prone to ungainly shortening.

Juliet

I like all of them except the 'Juliette' spelling. Helpful! At a push, I think at this moment in time, I like Emmeline best.

I know a little Ingrid called inky (ink- eee) which is rather adorable but I still prefer Juliet, elegant, timeless, good nn options, easy to pronounce, would suit a newborn, a teenager,a busness women and a granny. Perfect!

Emmeline is a lovely name, but Emmeline Annie would have too many m's and n's, it's just a bit of a tonguetwister.

Ingrid is harsh and "grid" just reminds me of National Grid, cattle grid, computer networks etc. Ingrid sounds better in Scandinavian countries where the "d" is softer and less pronounced, but I don't think it works here.

Juliet is lovely and I can't think of any problems with it so I'd vote for this.
