What do you think of Audra?

I have thought of Audrey but it's maybe just a bit too granny chic and I think I prefer Audra.

Any thoughts, do you like it?

My first thought as soon as I saw your title, before I even opened your post was Audrey from Coronation Street.

I like Audra, it is unusual but I would worry that the little girl would never escape from the origin of her name.

However, did you ever see the film Little Shop Of Horrors? The main female character was called Audrey and she was quite glam but also pretty stupid

soontobeslendergirl · 04/08/2013 13:31

I like it - uncommon but not unknown or made up. It means Storm apparently.

LittleSporksBigSpork · 04/08/2013 13:32

Audra is lovely, I think, though likely to get mixed with Audre and Audrey sometimes.

QueLinda · 04/08/2013 15:07

I like Audrey because ive never watch Coronation Street so think Hepburn or Tatou.

But to side step the Corrie connection...., Audra seems a nice version.

Glad it is getting positive comments as was worrying it sounded a bit made up.

Sounds quite American to me (not that that is necessarily good/bad) - like Audrina. I think Aude is nice.

Scruffey · 04/08/2013 15:21

I think it's odd, sorry.

Rhubarbgarden · 04/08/2013 16:32

Doesn't sit quite right with me. Prefer Audrey, which is so elegant.

Morgause · 04/08/2013 16:36

Too American, unless you are American, if you see what I mean.

Saffyz · 04/08/2013 21:29

I like it.

Hasn't done any harm.

KittenofDoom · 04/08/2013 21:34

Sounds like ordure. Stick with Audrey.

WandaDoff · 04/08/2013 21:38

There is a minor character in 'IT' by Stephen King called Audra.

bootsycollins · 04/08/2013 21:41

I've never heard Audra before but it's beautiful, I love Audrey because of Hepburn but it also reminds me of the daughter in National Lampoons Grin

LaRosaBella · 04/08/2013 21:43

I really quite like it, much prefer it to Audrey which to me is just a bit boring.

LaRosaBella · 04/08/2013 21:44

I was just thinking how nice it's sounds said in a Spanish accent and then saw your name, do you have a Spanish connection?

QueLinda · 05/08/2013 10:02

I speak Spanish LaRosaBella but unfortunately no family connections. Your right it does sound best with that accent!

Thanks for the feedback. It is Audra or Flora that i'm choosing from and Audra the more unusual choice I guess. I hadn't thought of it being American but I can see that now, hmm not sure if that matters. Will keep musing.

I thought of It too but only cause I'm rereading it at the moment.

I think it's pretty, also like Audrina but that makes me think of a rather disturbing Virginia Andrews book, My Sweet Audrina

formicadinosaur · 06/08/2013 08:55

Prefer Aurora

formicadinosaur · 06/08/2013 08:55

Like Audrey though

wigglesrock · 06/08/2013 15:40

I'm not sure - it's like you couldn't make your mind up between Aurora and Audrey and created a hybrid. I love Audrey, but I'm not sure about Audra.

gymboywalton · 06/08/2013 16:15

audra sounds like audrey but said in a comedy northern accent

driftwoodsands · 06/08/2013 16:44

DH has an elderly American relative called 'Audra-Jean'

toobreathless · 06/08/2013 20:58

Sounds like a car.

Much prefer Audrey or Aurora or Aurelia

JumpingJackSprat · 07/08/2013 08:03

I like it. Pretty and unusual.
