Daisy - belle

Honest opinions? I love names that others may think are too 'twee' flowers etc. What do you think of the double barrel? I know these also carry some stigma. We love the name Daisy - but also very aware of its current popularity and figure this would give her something more unique?
Naming decisions are so difficult!!

Sorry, it's far too twee and hillbilly!

Both names on their own are fine though.

RoadToTuapeka · 08/07/2013 08:40

I like both names but not together as effectively one name. It would be cumbersome for the child imo, and really, do you expect people to call her that all the time? She will probably end up being called one or the other but having to fill in forms, sign up at dentists etc with a hyphenated first name that no one uses.

lljkk · 08/07/2013 09:49

the only Daisy we know is 11yo & her mum used to be a punk.

Choccyhobnob · 08/07/2013 13:18

I'm afraid it does sound a bit like Baby - bel. I'm a big disliker of hyphenated names but that's just my opinion. I do agree with most people though, I just don't think it would work past toddler age!

badtime · 08/07/2013 13:33

I usually find it odd when people say some thing is a dogs' name or a cats' name. However, when I saw 'Daisy-Belle' as a topic, my immediate reaction was that it would really only be appropriate for a cow.

badtime · 08/07/2013 13:34

*something

gillywillywoo · 08/07/2013 13:36

This is the ultimate name for a cow! Sorry!!!! But no!

Jojay · 08/07/2013 13:39

I totally agree with the previous poster who said to use Daisy Annabel or Daisy Isabelle. Then you can use Daisy Belle as a nickname but she has a sensible grown up name when she needs it.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 08/07/2013 13:46

Daisy belle as a nickname is sweet, but the hyphen is horrible, sorry op.

If you like daisy, just use it.

chestnut100 · 08/07/2013 13:48

I have a Daisy Belle. It suites my daughter beautifully. I think all this nonsense about "it's only cute for a baby" is utter tripe. Names grow with age; there will be heaps of Daisy's around when they are adults. It won't be cutesy at all. It's a total matter of your personal choice. I expect that I may hate some of the name choices posters who think daisy belle sounds like a cow or cheese have. Horses for courses and all that....

FreedomOfTheTess · 08/07/2013 13:55

It's very redneck sounding.

squoosh · 08/07/2013 13:55

I don't think Daisy is overly cute, I know some adult Daisys, it works fine. I do think Daisy Belle would be silly on an adult though.

Zynnia · 08/07/2013 21:23

It sounds like a baby name. What about Margaret Belle, and then you can call her Daisybelle when she's toddling about.

The two together doesn't work. It's like you went into a sweet shop and couldn't choose so you stuffed loads of sweets in your pocket for later.

Zynnia · 08/07/2013 21:25

chestnut, you haven't hyphenated though have you? Belle is just a middle name for your daughter right? Both names are nice, I like them, but Daisy-Belle just makes me want to say choose ONE!

chestnut100 · 08/07/2013 22:43

Zynnia, you are correct! However she does get called the full shebang by a fair few people as it actually really suites her. I call her both exclusively when raising my voice a little Smile

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 10/07/2013 10:54

It's bloody horrible. She will grow up into an adult, don't call her Daisy-Belle FFS.

Rhubarbgarden · 10/07/2013 19:19

Fine for a doll.

picnicbasketcase · 10/07/2013 19:21

Daisy is lovely on its own. I don't like Belle at all. I really don't like any hyphenated names, they look twee and indecisive.

EuroShopperEnergyDrink · 10/07/2013 19:35

It's absolutely hideous.

Daisy is fine.
Belle is fine. Actually, no- I really like Belle.

Why do you want to lumber a child with a toddler and tiaras style hyphenated montrosity like that? It's not a doll, or newborn calf, it's a person who will have to live a twee lalala cutesy name.

My two cents? Marguerite Belle (not hypenated) is GORGEOUS. She can be Daisy-Belle as a toddler, and be Daisy, Belle, Rita, Margie- or whatever she wants. Or Daisy (middle name Belle/Annabel/Bella)

Stickhasgrownup · 10/07/2013 20:00

Unlike most others... I quite like it. Although I would get rid of the hyphen and make it one name - Daisybelle.
Lots of names sound strange when you first hear them and you end up loving them.
If you like it then go for it!

Stickhasgrownup · 10/07/2013 20:01

ps. not keen Margaret... NOT the same as Daisy which is lovely!
(oh and DD is Belle so obviously love that bit!)

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 10/07/2013 20:22

Daisybelle Hmm Confused

TarkaTheOtter · 10/07/2013 20:50

I like Daisy, but personally I think it needs a stronger middle name to make it more "grownup".
Not keen on hyphenated names (or double first names) generally. It's confusing (easily confused!).

AllegraLilac · 11/07/2013 01:45

It's cute but its no name for an adult.

SupermansBigRedPants · 11/07/2013 03:12

I too want to moooooo whenever I see this in active conversations sorry!

Daisy is really pretty, for me belle is what ruins it and the hyphen
