For a boy? My two favourites, DH not sure about either. What do people think?

Both nice, but prefer Conrad as it has a more pleasant meaning.

LynetteScavo · 04/07/2013 23:03

Both nice, both very different, so you would need to look at the baby to see what suited best.

Icapturethecastle · 04/07/2013 23:03

I love Soren - mainly because of a love of scandi tv dramas and Soren Lorenson.

Rhubarbgarden · 04/07/2013 23:06

Conrad is lovely. Soren - malt loaf.

formicadinosaur · 04/07/2013 23:13

Siren seems very girly but Conrads fab

Anjou · 04/07/2013 23:32

They're both lovely, strong names. Magnus has a similar feel and is a corker too! Smile

LittleNoona · 04/07/2013 23:32

Love Soren Grin

lessonsintightropes · 04/07/2013 23:34

Anjou can't do Magnus (tho I love it, and would have worked well with my maiden name) as our married name starts with an S Smile

And never thought of Soreen! Love malt loaf.

Soren sounds like a girl's name to me.

sundanceclaire · 05/07/2013 00:41

Soren is a brilliant name.

mathanxiety · 05/07/2013 04:48

Both lovely. Conrad would edge past Soren for me.

DolomitesDonkey · 05/07/2013 04:55

I see Soren and I'm thinking you "meant" Soeren, Sören or Søren.

So personally I'd go for Conrad as that's spelled correctly.

Anjou · 05/07/2013 07:45

I think most people would pronounce 'Soren' correctly, Donkey, even without the ö or ø. Even if you've never heard the name before, it's pretty obvious how it sounds.

I know what you mean about needing to go with the surname, OP. If my DSs were girls, Blythe would've been my top choice. Our surname begins with a 'J' though, so the initials meant I couldn't use it. Grin

Soren was on my original shortlist but I wondered if (slightly daft) people would associate/mispronounce as 'Sauron' due to the popularity of LOTR? I tend to over analyse though,so perhaps this wouldn't be the case.

Anyway, Conrad is awesome. Nn's 'Con' or 'Rad' are pretty cool too IMO. Smile

lessonsintightropes · 05/07/2013 08:28

Dolomites no - I didn't mean it with the Scandinavian orthography. I meant Soren.

Anjou I hadn't even considered Sauron!!

BlueChampagne · 05/07/2013 14:28

Conrad. But I am biased.

ZolaBuddleia · 05/07/2013 15:17

Love both.

Eskino · 05/07/2013 15:32

Love Soren, not so keen on Conrad. What are your thoughts on Stellan? I think its even nicer than Soren

TallulahBetty · 05/07/2013 19:55

Soren always makes me think it's a girl's name Hmm

13loki · 05/07/2013 19:56

I love Soren, DD would have been Soren (like that, not Sören or Søren) and pronounced like Soren Lorenson. But now we live in Sweden and I don't really like the Swedish pronunciation as much, so I'm not sure on it for our next child.

Anjou · 05/07/2013 19:58

Well, it might just be me, tightropes! Maybe nobody would make the connection to Sauron. Like I say, I over think everything when it comes to names!

Eskino, that's a good shout. I have a Stellan. Smile

desperateforaholiday · 05/07/2013 20:00

Soren, but I am biased Smile

AllegraLilac · 05/07/2013 20:37

Conrad is my all time favourite boys name! Makes me think of handsome American businessmen.

GaiusIsAnAceName · 06/07/2013 18:28

I love Soren but I want to pronounce is 's-oren' rather than the traditional 'sore-en'.

How would you lot pronounce it?

bugsybill · 06/07/2013 19:25

Both are lovely
