2 middle names too much?

I'm having twins. If we have only one girl would 2 middle names be too much?

First name would be Izabelle and our last name has 3 syllables.

We both love Riley and Nyx. We're really stuck on whether to have both or decide which one to toss. What would you do?

Two middle names is fine. But don't just use every name you love, or you'll be stuck if you ever have another girl.

Both our dc have 2 middle names (2nd for each is my maiden name). Our surname is only one syllable but we'd have done the same had it been longer.

chubbychipmonk · 03/07/2013 23:43

Both my DSs have 2 middle names.

I actually forget sometimes that they've got 2 middle names.

Go with what you like, it's not up to anyone else!

SandraClegane · 04/07/2013 13:41

Why would 2 be too much? It's hardly excessive. Actually very common these days to give 2 mns, my DSs have 2 middle names each too.

Do what you like! An old schoolfriend of mine had about 6 middle names, was quite the novelty act. They were all family names though so there was some meaning to it all. Her family were Dutch, not sure if it was a usual Dutch thing.
Personally I don't see the point of middle names unless they hold some meaning for the child, whether that is family or other connection.
Just think of child in the future filling in 'official' type forms where they ask for all names including middle, would you want to be writing a novel each time?

jalapeno · 04/07/2013 15:54

We have done exactly the same as COCKadoodledooo.

LookingForwardToMarch · 04/07/2013 15:59

It tended to be quite posh to have a string of names.

But sorry, it's seems the more chavvy the parents are = the more middle names foisted on their kid at the minute!

I mean your just making sure they have to spend more time filling out forms, it's not like those names are ever ever used.

Don't murder me its just an opinion Wink

I have two middle names.
It has been an issue all my life. They are too long ever to fit in allocated spaces on forms, and you can't legally miss one off on serious forms such as driving licences, passports etc.

Give the kids a break......keep it to one! Smile

My dds only have one middle mane each but ds has two - we'd already planed to give him dh's grandfathers name. Then he was born 10 days early, just missed my Dads birthday. So we gave him my Dads name too (Dad is delighted!!).

2blessed · 04/07/2013 16:08

I've got 2 middle names and a double barrel surname, its never been an issue for me. We gave ds 3 middle names, honouring my db and dp's df both deceased. We hope he appreciates them. Or maybe he'll think his parents are chavs... Confused.

MultipleMama · 04/07/2013 19:29

Thanks for the advice and opinions everyone, it's helped us though we are still undecided. Both names hold a lot meaning to us.

BOF - That's good advice. Although it will be at least 5 years before we have another!

No, bring it on! Two is fine!

elQuintoConyo · 04/07/2013 19:46

I have one, my Dsis has two, her two DC have one each, my DS has none!
Ignore the 'that's chavvy... that's posh... that's the done/not done thing...' etc blah de blah.

DS has none as we live in Spain and it's not done here, you have both parents' surname instead. All my documents here list my middle name as my first surname, eg Louise Gwendoline Montgomery. My doctor's surgery will usually just shout 'Gwendoline!' and I completely ignore them as I don't recognise it Blush

MultipleMama · 04/07/2013 23:58

My Grandmother's name was Gwendoline, lovely name.

I try not take in those "chavy" "posh" statements as that's just stereotyping to me.
