Middle name saga.....

Anyone having a nightmare choosing middle names? I'd like our fast approaching newborn to have one as I don't have one and always felt left out at school, especially as I know it was only down to my mum and dad not agreeing.
Now....DP would really like George, although I hate it Hmm and says it would mean a lot to him as it was his gdads middle name. (Has already been used for this reason by SIL though)
I like James and although my brother is called James this isn't my reason for liking it.
DP days he doesn't want this mainly because he's stuck on George.... So he said he'd compromise and wed have both.
Is two middle names a bit pretentious? I'd never considered two.
So in that case the list of possibilities would be

Finley (we think we've agreed on this as a first name)....

Finley George Hmm
Finley James Smile
Finley James George ??
Finley George James ??
Do they sound a bit rubbish both being one syllable? Any other suggestions appreciated!

Finley George James sounds best Smile

I kind of thought it would sound better as Finley (two syllable name) George ?? No?

I like Finlay George James. I have two middle names and love them as they are the names of my two grans (my mum was told she couldn't have kids so they named me after both of them).

I'm quite open to changing James to something else though too...god knows what!!

Finlay George is lovely. Or how about Finlay Edward George?

frogchops · 30/06/2013 08:51

Hmmmm I'm not keen on Edward....

I also have two middle names, one is another Christian name the other is a family surname (but not double barreled IYSWIM). I like more than one middle name, no probs.

cantreachmytoes · 30/06/2013 09:03

Finley George James sounds good to me too. Does depend a bit on your surname though. If it is double-barrelled and has lots of "j" sounds in it, I'd not be so sure.

HoneyandRum · 30/06/2013 09:04

George and James are both lovely, use both.

If you're open to changing James then I'd just drop it altogether and let your DH have his George.

frogchops · 30/06/2013 09:34

Leviticus, are you my DP in disguise? Grin
Interesting that everyone seems to think George James sounds better than James George.....I really did think that the two one syllable names sounded odd.
