I am 38 weeks pregnant with second child. We had thought that we'd decided upon the babys name, Orson.

However, despite looking into the name meaning, origin, popularity etc. I've only just discovered the link between the name and a character on Desperate Housewives. I have never watched an episode of Desperate Housewives and now worried abouts how strong the association would be to most people?

What do people think of when they hear the name? DH? Welles? Something else?

Mork calling Orson come in Orson

DS knows an Orson. He calls him 'Awesome'.

First thing I thought of was Welles, I've never watched Desperate Housewives either - I like it!

Orson Welles. (And I did watch Desperate Housewives.) I do know an Orson - love the name.

I would never have made the Desperate Housewives connection! Not my kind of show.

I just thought of Mr Welles. Or the short lived indie band from 5/6 years ago.

My first association was orson Scott card - he's a science fiction writer, v popular in the science fiction world.

His most famous book is ender's game, which is being released as a film shortly so he may get better known. That may be people's first association for the name.

He's a bit controversial (some allegations of homophobia) so if you're concerned about associations you might just want to google him.

I came on to say the same quote as sonlypuppyfat if you remember Mork and Mindy it could be a cool retro name.

Orson rocks!

Orson Cart = fart in rhyming slang. Plus Mork calling Orson, come in Orson. Not a good name for a real person IMVVHO. But if you like it, you should use it.

I like it - didn't think of desperate housewives (don't watch and doubt anyone will remember a character from a semi popular tv programme in a few years.)

Welles - brilliant name ... big fan.

The pig. Garfield fan. I think you'd be fine though. If you google and do a google image search it's mainly a band called Orson and Orson Welles.
