Famous (ish) names

Would you give your child the same name as someone famous if you shared their surname? I don't mean super famous or very current like 'Paul' if you were a McCartney or 'britney' for mr and mrs Spears for example..... It would be more like naming your daughter 'Zara' if you're second name was Fitzgerald ( another example!). Not something that everyone would immediately make the connection with but a known person....
The reason we ask is that we have a name for our baby in oct that has sort of 'stuck' but it is a name like this and I cant decide if its a really weird thing to do or not!
i did go to school with a michael Jackson, an Emma Thompson and an Emma woodhouse....!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have a famous surname one you have mentioned.

Its so tedious when asked any relation too. ....

So I would imagine its worse if you have a full famous name.

I think it depends on the name. There are a lot of 25 year old Kylies around, and a few 13 year old Shania's (Twain) around.

If its a name you genuinely like, then there's no reason for or using it. Alternately, use it as a middle name. You can always call him/her by that name, but your child will then have a more conventional name for everyday use as well.

Hmm, still undecided. My surname is a very common one so I had never had the 'Are you related to...?' question! We had thought of the middle name suggestion too but really love the name and I always think its a bit contrived to plan on using the middle name instead. Never sure how this happens, why not just give it as a first name if you prefer it?

DH is tall with surname Lee and sometimes pretends he's related to Christopher Lee for a laugh. We did have Laurence on our list but a friend beat us to it.

I know a Harry Potter!

My husbands favourite boys name is James, but with our surname - it's the name of an actor - I always had hesitations about it. We have daughters so it was a bit of a moot point Smile

We have the same surname as the drummer from Blink 182, and my OH wanted to call our DC1 the same first name! I loved the first name as well but got a bit put off because of the connection :(

Just had to google that drummer babel. It is a nice name 😀
