hi all, I'm due in 5 weeks & almost set on this name if its a girl, our surname is Jones. NN would be Flora, Florrie, flossie, Flopsie, Flo.
What does everyone think of this?

Other possibilities are Elizabeth/Betsy, (worried royal baby may have this tho), Georgia, Jasmine, Penelope.

3yo son is Dylan

Thanks in advance :)

All of the names are lovely, bare in mind that Florence (Flo) is becoming quite popular. There are 2 in my dds playgroup.

How about Eliza instead of Elizabeth to avoid the royal connection.

Florence gets my vote.

Iusedtowearmakeup · 11/06/2013 07:07

Florence is v v popular at moment. I did read on one website that it had risen to top 15 in the first quarter of 2013 so I don't know if that's an issue for you?
Can't go wrong with a good solid name like Elizabeth, so many options for nicknames too!

Wishfulmakeupping · 11/06/2013 07:37

I prefer Georgia or Elizabeth really like Betsy as nn

aoife24 · 11/06/2013 15:49

Florence is lovely, strong and elegant and Flossie as nn (as a kid, even if slightly spanielesque Smile

PestoSwimissimos · 11/06/2013 15:53

Gorgeous name Smile

Timetoask · 11/06/2013 15:59

samuelwhiskers · 11/06/2013 16:13

Love Florence, I have one aged 10, we call her Floss/Flo and Florence

squoosh · 11/06/2013 17:53

Much, much, MUCH prefer Georgia or Betsy to Florence.

Much.

Tickledyellow · 11/06/2013 18:45

It is extremely popular in our area and, how do I put this politely, used by a very wide cross section of society too...!

Tickledyellow · 11/06/2013 18:45

But I meant to add I really like it despite knowing of about six!

AThingInYourLife · 11/06/2013 18:51

I love Florence.

I'm in NI and know 1 Florence, aged 5.

ToTiredToBeWitty · 11/06/2013 18:53

I regret not using it for dd2. But dh wouldn't.

poppydaisy · 13/06/2013 10:25

About 5 years ago I didn't know a single Florence under age 80. Now we know about six little Florences, so it is becoming hugely trendy around here!

Tickledyellow surely almost every name is used by a wide cross section of society? How do you know what section of society the OP is even from :)

KLou1105 · 26/06/2013 22:52

I really like Florence but seems to be becoming more popular i also love flora and Penelope x

scarlettsmummy2 · 26/06/2013 22:59

I am from NI originally and have a sixteen month old Florence Ottilie. I preferred Ottilie but other half thought people from NI would pronounce it Ot lee, so Florence it was! We haven't met another yet, and she suits it perfectly!

othersideofchannel · 27/06/2013 06:56

Er know of 3 Florences born in the past year!

Notsoyummymummy1 · 29/06/2013 22:55

Florence is so dull - your other options are lovely especially Betsy!

Jojay · 29/06/2013 22:58

I love Jasmine, much nicer than Florence.

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/06/2013 23:01

I really like it.

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/06/2013 23:02

I lovePenelope, is more unusual.

Hate Jasmine. It's so 90's.

notanyanymore · 29/06/2013 23:15

You've got a list of names you like, just wait and see which she suits best when she arrives

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 29/06/2013 23:19

scarlettsmummy2 Florence Ottilie is so so beautiful!

AllegraLilac · 29/06/2013 23:28

78 year old Granny is a Florence. Would love to use the name for that reason.
