Any not-too-out-there boys' names beginning with a k??

Hi, I would love our DS3 to have the initial K but can't think of any boys names that begin with a k that aren't in the Rooney Kai/ Klay category, does anyone know of any k-names that are less unusual/ more traditional (aside from Kevin/ Keith!!)??

Some great Cornish ones

Kenver,
Kitto
Kernow
Kernick

youarewinning · 29/05/2013 22:10

Keiren - guess if you chose you could call him Keir then? (altho never plan a nn Wink)

I seriously wouldn't worry about what your surname is as if you called him something longer 3+ syllables he'll probably end up with a one syllable nn Grin

HesterShaw · 29/05/2013 22:13

Would you actually call your kid Kernow though? It's like calling him Cymru - a bit odd.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 29/05/2013 22:54

Some of these are horrible

Shame about Keir - great name

OP

Why K?

Give us some other hints so we can suggest alternatives?

BestIsWest · 29/05/2013 23:12

Yes, maybe not Kernow! I liked the others though. I'm not a lover of the letter K in general, though I do think Kerensa is a great girls name.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 29/05/2013 23:16

Me neither

A lot of K names should be spelled with a C

Those Kornish ones were quite nice though

LentilAsAnything · 29/05/2013 23:19

soontobe, he did! He had shoulder-length wavy hair and was cool! :)
He was about five years old. Rocking the look.

kipsonline · 29/05/2013 23:19

Ah, bless you. We have 2 DS already who both have my DH's initials (in fact we have used both his names within their names). We are expecting another boy and I just vaguely hoped we might be able to work my initials in there, given this will def be our last...

I'm willing to admit defeat on that front mind you as i cannot see any k names working (your suggestions are great so if one of those doesn't work I think I will have to let it be)...(sniff!)

Aaaw

Hope I didn't insult you. Many more traditional K names are nice ....

soontobeslendergirl · 29/05/2013 23:51

Could you reverse your initials, or go for the K sound rather than the letter? then you could add in Cameron, Craig, Callum etc too

MoelFammau · 30/05/2013 01:27

Karl
Kieran
Kristof
Kenneth
Keith
Kingsley
Knut (worth a try!)
Karol
Kaspar

--- 'Out there' is relative - what heritage do you have? Mt DD is half German so if this is the case for you too then you have loads of K options!

mathanxiety · 30/05/2013 04:59

Konstantin

mummyTP2 · 30/05/2013 14:19

Kyle is nice but very common I also like keiran

dubstarr73 · 31/05/2013 20:50

Kiefer is nice but underused

kipsonline · 01/06/2013 14:28

Hmmm, no exotic heritage here to make the k more normal unfortunately :(
I'm also v wary of names that can be spelt in multiple ways (having one myself and forever having to correct official documents, and having friends and colleagues always getting it wrong...) and so that doesn't seem to leave any 2+ syllable k-names at all?? Grrrr... But thank you all for trying!

I think Killian might be your best bet. It's Irish but Saint Killian founded a monastery Wurzburg, S Germany and is commemorated there. While the K spelling includes the syllable Kill, the Irish hard C spelling is frequently mistaken for a soft C and ends up being pronounced Sillian, making the K a better choice imo.. The name can be spelled with one L too.

MoelFammau · 01/06/2013 20:36

My dad has Kendrick as a middle name...?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/06/2013 20:40

Kiel

mathanxiety · 02/06/2013 02:00

How about Kellen?

betsybo · 02/06/2013 16:22

I love the name Kit for a boy.

My hubby is Karl so I'm biased to that one too.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/06/2013 17:42

Keir.

I don't like Kaleb,Konnor etc. They are not variations, they are just misspelt.

Takver · 02/06/2013 20:18

I still think plenty of good 2 syllable K names. Just going with more 'traditional' ones Kester, Keiran or Kian are all good solid options, plus Killian as suggested above. I think Keiran is the more common variant of Ciaran in England, so wouldn't need too much spelling out.

Even with a short surname, Kit, Keir or Karl could be fine?

Takver · 02/06/2013 20:19

Actually, I'm on a mission to reclaim K and J names in MN eyes, since I have a K name, and dd is a J Grin

WingDefence · 02/06/2013 20:30

Keeley is the 'boy's' way of spelling that name apparently. I also went to school with a Kelly.

There's also Kennedy (my uncle) or Kenneth.
