Zoë...? Too dated?

Opinions would be great.

I told my aunt and she likes it, but thinks it is a very ''early nineties'' name...?

And what middle names (2 or three syllable to go with surname Grey)

It's a diereses not an umlaut - umlaut's tend to be German!

Zoe Grey is a fantastic name! You could be anything as a Zoe Grey!

I love it and I don't think it has a strong date association. There's a beautiful mosaic of the Empress Zoe in the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. I would definitely be keen to use it for a girl.

I like it and would go for Zoe Francesca.

I'm a Zoe (with the diereses, but I don't know how to do it on here!) Really happy with my name now, after a wobbly phase at primary school when I randomly wanted to be called something like Crystal or Stephanie (think I'd been exposed to too many American soaps!)

I was born in the eighties, and there was one other Zoe in my secondary school class of about 200. I now teach, and have come across the odd Zoe in the schools I've worked in, although it's definitely not common. Don't think it would be seen as dated, as it crops up regularly enough to still be current.

Zoe Grey sounds lovely, by the way.

I knew someone would correct me...couldn't think what else it might be called, sorry.

There must be an alt code I suppose.

Wow, almost 100%. :)

I love the meaning ''life'' - we have waited so long for our baby that the meaning is important to me us (as I mentioned before, hubby is so over the moon with impending arrival, I could call the baby ''Mmm Danone'' and he would be happy!)

Thanks, guys!

I like Isobel and Alice as middle names and esp. like the ZIG/ZAG initials :)

My two year old is Zoe (no punctuation) partly for the meaning and partly because it's cute!

Zoe is a classic name. I really like it.

There's a Zoë at school with my yr7 DC. Ziggy would be a great nickname/homage to David Bowie. I think she's the only Zoë in the school so you achieve a great name - well known but unusual. Imogen is another long middle name but less well used than Isobel (& variations there of).

No, not dated.

No, not dated. I know a toddler Zoe.

Not dated at all. It's a lovely name and not overused. We get a Zoe every couple of years at school.

Sorry I don't like it. But obviously I am the only person in the world not to Grin. The 2 girls names I like the least are zoe and amy.

I like it. The youngest Zoe I know is 7.

Really like it but is popular - know a 4, 6 and 10 year old

I really love it. It feels like an out-of-the-blue suggestion for some reason (although it's not an 'out there' name), but a totally gorgeous name. It makes me picture a pretty, feisty, independent girl/woman. Love it. Might steal it if I ever get around to having another DC and they turn out to be a girl!

I think it's a pretty solid, classic name!

I like it. It's has been fairly popular for a long time, but never ubiquitous. Good choice. I know a zoe of 42, a zoe in her teens and a friend has a tiny one.

seeker · 26/05/2013 12:33

But Zooey, is pronounced Zoo-ey, not Zoey. My niece is Zooey- short for Zulaika.

I'm also not one for alternative spellings but I know a Zoie which I've always liked (I mean the name, but I like the person too!)

It is a timeless name and Grey is a great surname.

Why give a child a fantastic, timeless, classic beautiful name, then ensure that thy have to spell it every time they give it for the next 80 years? Why????????

Report
seeker · 27/05/2013 11:55

And Zoie is Zoy. Agggggggggggghgh!
