Met a baby with this name today.

I wondered if I could come up with anything else made up of bits of other names (a classic way to invent names of course!)

Um, how about...
Elizalotte.
Lillerine.
Viella.
Sophantha.

Willhew.
Elijamin.
Danastian.
Aarbert.

Well, it gave me something to do on the train instead of looking out of the window anyway!

Herring - I actually know a Maibeth, albeit spelt Maybeth, so it's been done.

However a quick Google has shown really women called Maibeth.

I call my daughter elliebelle and elliebean but just as pet names, is this definitely a proper name? is she being earmarked for a career in the sex trade?

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 25/05/2013 16:22

Nope, definitely her actual name!

I thought op was going to be a 'Shall I call my baby..' and was all set to jump in and say a very firm No. Am usually very broad minded about names, too.

Watch that the MN "cats bum" mouth isn't sucking in at things that are purely names that originate elsewhere.

I know a Margreth . Not a hybrid name, but a South African spelling.

(No she's not a Magrat like in discworld either!)

badtime · 28/05/2013 10:14

And on the previous page, someone suggested 'Lucianna'. It's hardly miles away from 'Luciana', and I wouldn't really bat an eyelid if I saw the double-n version - I think it sounds like a frilly 19th-century name.

hellonewworld · 28/05/2013 10:17

Maybe it was a hyphenated name, Lexi-Belle? As in two separate names, a bit like 'May' and 'Rose' that people add onto names.

MoelFammau · 29/05/2013 01:16

In Germany there was a bit of a fad for this sort of thing - short names stitched together.

Hannalore
Lieselotte
Hannalotte
Pippilotte
