Know any little'uns called Hayden?

I think dh is set on calling our first ds Hayden. I quite like it, but part of me is a bit nervous, I don't quite know why, I think sme of the family will think we are nuts. My main problem is I haven't found another boy's name I like.

I don't know that many little boys, but those I know are of the Alfie, Arthur, Harry, Wilfred, Sam, George variety, although none of them live locally.

I wondered how common Hayden is these days?

Not very common IMO - I only know an 11yo with the name

Stat · 14/05/2013 17:48

Hayden has been in the top 100 boys names each year since 2006 (around 80th) so it is pretty common.

It is about as common as Arthur, but less common than the other boys names you mention (apart from Wilfred which is much lower down the rankings).

FortyFacedFuckers · 14/05/2013 17:56

I really like that name, I know 2 Hayden's one girl, one boy.

ImaginaryHat · 14/05/2013 18:10

I know one, little boy about 3 years old

WhispersOfWickedness · 14/05/2013 18:11

I know one who must be about 5 or 6 Smile I'm in Lincolnshire.

rebecca87 · 14/05/2013 18:17

My son is called Hayden Grin he's the only one at school with that name x

rebecca87 · 14/05/2013 18:17

Oh I forgot to add he's 5yrs old

Panzee · 14/05/2013 18:19

There's two at my school. Do you want a common/normal name or something more unusual?

wankerchief · 14/05/2013 18:20

I had Hayden down for ds2 but my grandad died shortly before he was born so he got named after him.

Still love it though

BigBongTheory · 14/05/2013 18:24

I know one and like it.

On here it does seem to be tied in with Jaden, Kaden etc whereas I think of it as more classic than those.

Wildwaterfalls · 14/05/2013 18:29

Met one a while ago - about 3 year old. Lovely little boy and great name!

AnnaKissed · 14/05/2013 19:06

I know a baby and a six year old, both spelt Haydn. Lovely name imo.

twinklestar2 · 14/05/2013 20:40

I know one ages around 5-6

Littlecherublegs · 14/05/2013 20:44

LuckySocks13 · 14/05/2013 21:13

MrsFrederickWentworth · 14/05/2013 21:16

My godson, 4 1/2.

His cousin is Kayden 9 months.

soontobeslendergirl · 14/05/2013 21:25

I know one - he's almost 5 I think - I see it as a classic name too. Definitely not a chavvy family - I'm in Scotland

chickensaladagain · 14/05/2013 21:29

Isn't Hayden the female form of the name?

I know a lovely 4 yo called Haydn Smile

Decoy · 14/05/2013 21:40

I've never met anyone called Hayden.

threepiecesuite · 14/05/2013 22:21

I know a 1 yo called Haydn. I like it.

PoppyWearer · 14/05/2013 22:22

I know two or three. But it's a nice name.

olivertheoctopus · 14/05/2013 22:25

I went to college with one but he'd be mid 30's now.

ShatnersBassoon · 14/05/2013 22:29

One Haydn, but the H is silent Confused

RunningBear78 · 15/05/2013 10:52

Thanks you for all your comments, and for reassuring me that despite sounding similar, it does seem to sit apart from Jayden and Kayden, of which I am not a fan, at all, even slightly.

Luckysocks - eek!

Panzee ... at the moment, I'm not too bothered, I just don't seem to like many boy's names! I don't think I could do a super common name though, but as these things are regional to an extent, I'm not sure how much it matters. I did like Oscar & Oliver, then was instantly put off when I found out they were in the top 10 popular names. So I guess something a little unusual is what I'd like, but not bonkers Smile

Shatners - do you live in Yorkshire!? I spent my whole childhood in Sheffield explaining to people there was an H at the start of my name! Does also worry me a little as we still live ooop north where H's seem optional!

Hayden is an old English name, means Hedged Valley. Haydn is the Germanic version meaning Heathen (apparently) ...
As for a girls name, I dunno. I think that is a fairly recent (American) thing. It does worry me a little giving a boy something a girl could be called. Is that a reason not to use it?

I know three ( the oldest is 8) and I definitely put it with Jayden/Kayden/Braydon. I know that it isn't as it's not one of those made up sort of names.
