We don't know the sex yet,but we have a very small boys list and will probbaly settle on one soon.Girls,I'm having more trouble with...
Will be a sibling to Skye and Arlo.

Opinions and suggestions please,I've looked at a lot of names (this is a very short list in comparison!) but I haven't found 'the one' yet, unless one of these grows on me....

Etta
Sylvie
Ivy
Elsa
Romy
Hera
Nell
Merryn (merry)
Vita
Pippa
Zinnia
Calla
Rita

My first choice would be Merryn.
Second Etta.

Other suggestions:

Kerenza (love/affection - Cornish)

OP, we had a similar length list of names for our DS, none of which we adored but which were the only ones DH and I could agree on. We decided to try a name per week and call it to the bump to see which one stuck. I think there must be something about saying the names out loud because we got to the third on our list and couldn't get past it - it just felt right and we both fell in love with it! (we still have a back-up couple just in case it doesn't feel right for him when he arrives, but I can't imagine him being anything else at the moment!)

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/05/2013 09:48

That's a really nice idea mega I think I'll try that!

Sparklytrumps · 07/05/2013 09:59

Like ivy best

PinkApple86 · 07/05/2013 11:52

Ivy is so nice. But remember Beyonce called her dd Blue Ivy. That could be a positive or negative for u.

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 07/05/2013 11:56

Etta is nice and I don't know any, what about Elsie?

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 07/05/2013 12:59

Ha Mega we did that, DS came early and so we decided he just had to have the name the bump happened to be on at the time!

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/05/2013 16:32

Merryn ,Etta , Romy And Sylvie are the front runners at the moment....

For middle names we like (due to family connections that might just please everyone!)

Mabel or Beatrice
And
Pip or Pippa

So firstname Mabel Pippa surname.
or some combination of the above four names...any thoughts on which sound best altogether?

Merryn (Merry) definatly. Although I don't want it becoming too popular, as it's the name I've chosen if we ever have another baby girl.

5madthings · 08/05/2013 20:34

I dont think.it will get massively popular, i keep seeing it mentioned on mnet but if you look at the name statistucs less than 30 chikdren a year are named merryn... I may have been checking since i named my dd merryn in 2010... Dont want it becoming really popular! Grin

i like beatrice as a middle name but i think mabel is great, but could you have merryn mabel?

My merryn is merryn lola eden :)

mummyloveslucy · 08/05/2013 20:42

That's good. I've never heard of another Merryn where we live. I love Beatrice for a middle name too. Merry-Bea. Smile It wouldn't go with our sir name though. I love Wren for a MN but it won't go with Merryn.

5madthings · 08/05/2013 20:52

Wren is nice and I notice you liked Clara on another thread, I always liked that and dp said no :(

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/05/2013 21:58

DP said no to Clara too,and Cora. Meanie.

I do love Merryn and merry is such a sweet NN...and its one of those, popular on MN but not in RL names, lets hope the stats stay low!

Merryn Mabel pip(pa)
Merryn Beatrice pip(pa)

Merryn Pippa Mabel
Merryn Pippa Beatrice

Thoughts??

5madthings · 08/05/2013 22:02

I love Mabel but am not too sure on the two 'm' names, it seems a bit of a mouthful.. And I can't decide if it should be merryn Pippa Beatrice or merryn Beatrice Pippa.

Actually scrap that as I typed them I said them out loud...

Merry Beatrice pippa :) love that!

5madthings · 08/05/2013 22:07

Merryn Mabel Pippa is growing on me.... Sorry not helpful Blush

They are all lovely :)

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/05/2013 22:22
Grin

Tis helpful...sort of...at least they're all good rather than all awful!

OP posts:
5madthings · 08/05/2013 22:25

Merryn Mabel is really growing on me having said it out loud a few times Grin

AuntPittypat · 08/05/2013 22:35

I love, love, love Agnes from your second list. And I think it goes very well with Skye and Arlo (although I know some people don't like to have two DCs with the same initial.
I also really like the name Skye and don't see it as working class at all. In fact, I like all the names you've mentioned so far (except maybe Zinnia). Smile

miffybun73 · 08/05/2013 22:42

UpTheFRIGGinDuff I feel awful, didn't mean to make you feel sad. As I said, both are lovely names and no reason why they have to match/go together in any way. Your children are individuals after all with their own characters and Skye is a really pretty name.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/05/2013 22:47

It's okay miffy I'm just a little hormonal Grin

OP posts:
raisah · 09/05/2013 02:30

Zinnia is a lovely underused flower name.
How about Eloise?

CheerfulYank · 09/05/2013 02:52

I love Merryn. Beatrice and Mabel are also very sweet...I wanted Mabel for the one due in a few weeks, but DH has vetoed.

TheRealFellatio · 09/05/2013 04:07

In 7 years time there will be two or three Merryns in every reception class, you mark my words.

That, and Seren. Two years ago I'd never hear of either of them and now they are the names that everyone on MN coos over every time they are mentioned. If being over-popular doesn't matter to you that's fine, but if it does I'd avoid.

mathanxiety · 09/05/2013 04:43

I don't like Ivy, Hera, Calla or Nell (which reminds me of 'knell'). The rest are lovely and would go well with Skye and Arlo.

I especially like Romy, Elsa and Vita.

Romy Beatrice
Elsa Beatrice
Vita Mabel
?

TheRealFellatio · 09/05/2013 05:03

Elsa is MY baby name, lovingly guarded through three PGs all of which have produced boys, the eldest of whom is now 20 and I refuse to allow it to become the nom du jour, even though I will never get to use it ever

That and Elspeth. I keep seeing them mentioned on here lately and they are mine I tell you - mine. Grin I having been clining to the hope of putting pressure on whichever of my sons produces the first granddaughter to use it. Hmm
