Please help with short list!

I'm 33 weeks and it's taken a while to pull a short list together as DH keeps rejecting all the names I suggest! So it's a brother or sister for Jacob and our surname is a common one ending in 'son'.

Boys:

Charlie - my favourite, DH initially rejected but just this morning said he'd go with it if pushed (think that's the best I'm going to get!) Probably a bit popular although I only know 1 and Jacob's not exactly uncommon anyway so doesn't bother me too much. Think I would go for Charles but call him Charlie.

Elliott - DH and I both like although with slight reservations.

Sebastian - love Seb but not convinced on the full name.

Nathan - DH came up with this, quite like but can't get past the 90s associations.

Girls:

Erin - DH and I have both always liked this. DM thought it sounded too harsh (really should have learnt not to discuss names with her)

Niamh - a late contender, really like it and DH hasn't said no. We don't have Irish connections, does that matter?

Millie - very late contender as our DS said last night that if it was a girl he wanted to call it Millie (he has some wallpaper with a rabbit called Millie on). DS also told DMIL and she loved it. Not sure if it suits an adult though?

Help! Any views welcome...

there are a lot of Niamhs and Neeves around at the moment if that bothers you at all-same goes for Millie. Erin is pretty. How about Emily or Emma instead of Millie;there are surprisingly few of these around?

If you like Millie then make sure she has a Sunday best name....Emily with Millie as NN.
My choices would be Elliot and Erin, though. Both are lovely but not overused. :-)

Charles & Emilia

I LOVE Sebastian, and I really like Charlie even though it's pretty run of the mill. Elliott is very nice but quite 90's, but I dislike Nathan and Nathaniel for some reason - don't know why.

Don't really like any of the girls names. Erin sounds too hard, I prefer Elsa, Erica (I love both of those, always have for years, they sound classy and strong and elegant) and I also prefer Ellen and Esme to Erin.

Millie - I really dislike all those sorts of cutesy girlie names.

Niamh is ok, it will give her a few challenges with spelling and pronunciation, but is sufficiently well known for most people to cope with I think.

Love Charlie and Elliott, they'd be my choices from your boys list. Not keen on any of your girl names for similar reasons to Fellatio (also love Elsa - was vetoed for my DD, sob sob).

I don't think Erin sounds harsh at all. It's a pretty name to me. family will grow to like it whatever their current views on the name because it will be the name of someone they love

I like Elliot but I'd leave off the last t as to me, that denotes surname. I think it goes well with Jacob.

If I was gong with Millie, I'd also use it as a nn for something more formal like Amelie.

Instead on Nathan what about nathaniel or Nate?

Sebastian is really nice from your boys list.

I used to like Erin and Millie from your girls list but I know loads of lo' s with both these names at the moment so maybe its putting me off them! Erica or Elsa as suggested above are very pretty and much less popular

I couldn't help but smile a - do you realise that your shortlist is (potentially) Charles or Camilla?!!
That aside I really like Charles and Millie, though there are a fair few about...

I like all your choices! Prefer Seb to the full name and Nate to Nathan.

IMO Millie is a perfectly good name without needing a longer version :)

Thanks everyone for your opinions, much appreciated. Looks like Charlie or Elliot(t) for a boy and Erin or Millie for a girl are the most popular choices. Surprised Niamh hasn't got more votes, interesting as I had been leaning towards that name.

Funny I did have Erica on my list but DH vetoed it. Also liked Elsa but that has been knocked off as it is DH's gran's name and he didn't want to single one person out to name DC after over other grandparents/great-grandparents.

Actually really liked Emilia which was mentioned above as longer version of Millie but was worried it would always have to be spelled out as sounds similar to Amelia (which I like but not as much). Can't have Emily as we have one in the family.

Love Sebastian but hate Seb.

We have a Jacob and three out of four of your boys' names were on our list for DS2! He also would have been Erin if he was a girl.

We went for a slight variation from the original shortlist and chose Nathaniel in the end.

Ha you have good taste ISpy! What else did you have on your list for girls? Love Nathaniel, goes well with Jacob.

You could have Emmeline for Millie. She could also be Emmy with that name.

I like Erin. DH's cousin is a quite a very feminine grown-up one, so I don't see it as hard.
Boys, Elliot or Nathaniel. I know several young boys and girls called Charlie. It seems pretty popular.

Thanks . Liked Emily too, but know quite a few so weren't sure about using it (and know you can't either, so not massively helpful, sorry!) Tbh, I think we'd decided on Erin for a girl quite early on - definitely found choosing a boy's name far harder this time.

I like Charlie and Nathan for a boy and Erin for a girl. What about Imogen I love that name and is strong like your other choices.
