Gulp! Could be b/g, g/g or b/b!!

Still have 4 months to go, so have a little while...

We have a Matilda (nn Tilda).

So far our "four" are:

Hugo (first choice if one boy only)
Frank

Valentina (first choice if one girl only)
Grace

One's I have liked but rejected by DH include Patrick and Tessa/Pippa.

What do you think... Any other ideas?

I love Patrick and Hugo
Francis is ok but I wouldn't choose it.

Your girls' names aren't msaa, but with Patrick I agree with a pp Anna is beautiful. Patrick and Anna, and with Hugo, I like Juliet.

Sorry just not keen on Tessa at all, and Pippa is ok but a bit silly sounding if that is a description that makes sense. And tilda? no. Prefer Madeleine to Matilda. Valentina is pretty but it's long and I think you'd end up with a 'Val' which lacks the glamour that Valentina does have. What about Vivien? Juliet and Vivien do anything for you?

But Vivien would end up being Viv and Juliet might end up being Jools...

Just one thing to bear in mind - you need to be happy with the order too - by that I mean if you have 2 girls or 2 boys it doesn't really matter, but the choice of names if its boy then girl might be slightly different than if you have girl then boy (if that makes sense). I wanted Daniel for a boy but we thought he'd probably get shortened to Dan so if he was 1st, it would have been "Dan and X" which is quite difficult not to run together so it becomes "Danand X". Sorry I'm not explaining myself very well but hope you get my point. Some combinations work well if they are 'X and Y', not quite so well if they are 'Y and X'.

You also have to think about the length of the combination - Hugo & Valentina is OK but I think if you going for Valentina, you probably shouldn't go for anything much longer than Hugo. They'll mostly be referred to as a pair, certainly to start with, so 2 long names is probably too much of a mouthful.

Congratulations Smile.

Jennymackerz we already have a Matilda called Tilda!!! We love it!

I do agree with some of the Frank comments, but still can't think of an alternative! And yes, Valentina might be Val... But that's but as bad as some shortenings (and things ALWAYS get shortened) plus we would use Vally.

I do like Frank. Also like Fred and Bryn (but vetoed) and like Ivo... But that's too many "o"s with Hugo!

What are thoughts on Connor? Is it too Irish (we're just plain English...!)

My grandson is a lovely Frank. For him it is a diminutive of Francis though he was Frankie when he was tiny. He is nine now and Frank is perfect.

ooh I do love Ivo - thanks to my Georgette Heyer addiction as a teenager. But agree it might be a bit much to have twins called Ivo and Hugo. Sadly!

I know edam... It's also a family name but it's too much I fear!

No no, don't go for Ivo instead of Hugo, every Serbian bandit I have ever met was called Ivo.

I have a Franklin and love Hugo. Others on our list were Vincent, tobias, Ralph, Victor, Theodore.

The girl names are both lovely but Grace is ever so popular, much more so than your other three. What about Violet or Elodie?

I hadn't realised it was a common name in Serbia but even if it is, how many people in England will make that link?

When my sister was expecting twins she had a names for b/g and those names were not repeated in her g/g and b/b combos. She didn't like the thought that if she did have two children of the same sex then one of them would have a name that was only her second favourite and wouldn't have made it into the b/g combo.

Realise that would require you to come up with more names but does get round the issue of having names that don't go together.

I love Valentina, but that is probably because we called DS Valentino (Tino for short, although DD2 calls him Toe which he thinks is cute.

DD2 has Amelia as middle name, after Luisa (Spanish/Italian) but this is quite popular. I demanded the (not agreed upon) middle name while still open from a C section (bit unfair hahaha) so he couldn't argue!

Littlecherublegs - thanks DD1's middle name is Faith, Gabriela to start. DH picked this from a short list of 3 (Faith, Maria and Delilah) after being kicked out of theatre after CS while they were still sorting me out. I also thought this entitled me to my choice for DD2 (see above)

If DD2 had been a boy, it would have been Francisco, but Frankie for short.

My mum suggested Sarah for DD2, it's one of my middle names, but deadly boring and really doesn't go with surname. How would she have felt growing up as Sarah compared to Valentino and Gabriela?

My advice would be to find names you both like, including a shortened pet name, consider compromising for middle names.

Congratulations on the twins, good luck with the names.
