Holliday for a girl

I am pregnant with dc4, saw an article about Holliday Grainger in a magazine the other day and thought she had a lovely name, what do you all think is it cheesy and naff or nice?

Not sure that my other kids have "prime minister" names to be honest.... My other girls are Cleo and Anouk With dS Casper just to totally out myself!
"we're all going on holiday" oh dear.... That did make me chuckle but probably wouldnt have if I was younger at school
Yes the one l spelling is nice too lentil and I love their other girls names
too....
I have never heard Holian before but I do like it
after all this I bet it's a boy!

I think it depends. If your other dc are George, Alice and Jane then Holliday probably not. If they have kind of quirky, cute names then go for it. I know sibs called Walter and Sunny and I don't think they go together at all. It's almost like their parents have typecast them from birth.

Equally it's very naive to think people don't judge people on their names.

It's been proven time and again that they do so it is worth nearing this in mind when saddling children with names that you think are cool and hip.

And it's very naive not to reaslise that these days the naming pool is vast and wide. It's inevitable that there will be future politicians, teachers, doctors, plumbers with all kinds of weird and wonderful names.

I just can't understand people who bristle at anything at bit more left field than Peter and Susan.

But a lot of very successful people have quirky or unusual names, I don't think choosing your kids names has to be a moral issue, unless you're thinking of shithead or something....

There's a massive difference between going for something traditional and some of the awful names kids get given nowadays.

I was in the park the other day and a dad there was calling for his son, called Hunter. I could almost hear the dad cringing as he said it.

Funnily enough the friends I have with more unusual names have all given their children more traditional ones!

What you and I may see as 'awful names' will just be 'names' 30 years from now. I don't like the name Hunter but I've heard of a few of them in recent times and don't find it all that noteworthy.

People truly won't bat an eyelid at most 'unusual' names.

And the 'not a president's name' comment is ridiculous. Anyone can be a president. Is Barack a president's name? How about Goodluck? Ulysses?

Sorry what? I didn't google it to try and justify it I noticed an actress had the name and was just providing a link to who she was for the previous poster

And have you never heard of Hunter S Thompson? It's really not a terrible name and I have met a few people with it I don't understand why anyone would get so upset about other people's name choices

I adore Holliday. V glamourous and much prefer 2 Ls, otherwise it's just like a vacation. Funnily enough, when I read Holliday, capital H and 2 Ls, the word 'holiday' doesn't even cross my mind. It's like 'witch' and 'which', totally different words.

Wasn't Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffanys a rather high class hooker? Won't raise an eyebrow amongst her peers .

Speaking as a teacher, it would certainly generate a bit of joking in the classroom!
