I love the name Jamie but agree that it's unoriginal. It's fairly popular, but if that doesn't matter to you I don't see any other negative reasons why you shouldn't use it

PotteringAlong · 25/04/2013 21:34

Boy or girl?

Still18atheart · 25/04/2013 21:40

Quite like it

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/04/2013 21:40

Doesn't do much for me tbh, but I like James.

thermalsinapril · 25/04/2013 23:14

Fine as a nickname for James.

James isn't overdone as a first name, although it's pretty much a default middle name on here.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 25/04/2013 23:18

Not as nice as James.

kissmyshineymetalass · 25/04/2013 23:26

I like it for a girl but not for a boy

OkayHazel · 25/04/2013 23:49

Super boring.

ipswitch · 26/04/2013 07:24

I really like it.

TSO · 26/04/2013 07:31

It's not my choice as it sounds like a shortened version of James and I don't 'do' shortened names. Also, it's fine for a boy but a bit too twee for when that boy grows into a 40 something, 6 foot plus adult imho. I love the name James though.

The problem with the above is that my OH may not agree with me. He's one of two James' in his immediate family and so is known to all as Jamie! Grin

hellokitty124 · 26/04/2013 07:33

A little dull and I'm not a fan of cutesy names - Jamie/Alfie/Archie etc.

Michellephant · 26/04/2013 08:14

My boyfriend's brother is called Jamie and I hated it from the beginning. TSO, my boyfriend's mum actually used the name BECAUSE it can't be shortened to anything else, which is crazy considering it already IS a shortened version of something!

DontmindifIdo · 26/04/2013 08:18

go with James - Jamie is cute, and cute is great for a baby for a little boy, but a grown man going for a job interview might be better with James. You can introduce him as Jamie if you like, it just gives him the chance when he's older and doesn't want 'cute'.

fussychica · 26/04/2013 14:46

James is nicer.

Mousehere · 26/04/2013 21:06

Thanks everyone I should have said James would be name with Jamie as nn.
