The ones I've known are total wankers. hth Grin

usualsuspect · 16/04/2013 17:49

Badly behaved in class?

What a ridiculous reason to not like a name.

SheepCantFly · 16/04/2013 17:55

I like it. Mostly because of dean Winchester in supernatural. Smile

ISpyPlumPie · 16/04/2013 18:23

Would associate it with boys who were a few years older at school, which would date to boys born in the 70s. Struggling to actually think of any I know personally though.

stargirl1701 · 16/04/2013 19:25

Not if you're a teacher. Many, many names scored off my DH's list as I taught a child with that name.

HorryIsUpduffed · 16/04/2013 19:27

Pearl and Dean would be excellent names for kittens...

Interesting... ::files away for future reference::

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/04/2013 19:39

I've taught a couple of nice Deans and one slightly strange one - just like with lots of names.

squoosh · 16/04/2013 22:57

Almost as bad as Gary.

(Do you think this thread will be deleted to save the feelings of Garys, Waynes and Deans?)

usualsuspect · 16/04/2013 23:15

The reason that other thread was deleted surprised me.,Baby names is full of nasty posts about children's names. It's all Chav Chav Chav.Maybe I should report all the snarky posts.

usualsuspect · 16/04/2013 23:17

My DDs name gets poked fun at all the time on here.

Misfit13 · 16/04/2013 23:28

Haha, reading this thread is like hearing the kids in my street being called in (70s council estate), including my brother, Dean :-)

Beamur · 16/04/2013 23:30

I'm a 70's child and all the Deans I knew at school were naughty too!

Someone started a thread saying that all names suggested on this forum were 'daft' and ridiculous. Someone countered by saying they'd prefer 'daft' to ordinary names such as James, Henry, Oliver etc.

Thread was deleted to save the feelings of James, Henry, Oliver and their parents.

Bit odd seeing as MN is like the dragon's lair of baby naming, enter at your peril. Isn't that part of the fun though, the forthright opinions?

BackforGood · 16/04/2013 23:45

I like it - about time for a comeback Smile

StephaniePowers · 17/04/2013 11:27

I can help but say it in my head with an estuary twang.
Other than that it's fine, it just looks a bit unbalanced as a word.

usualsuspect · 17/04/2013 15:24

Council estate? Wtf?

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 17/04/2013 17:16

The school bully (mid-80's) was called Dean.

squoosh · 17/04/2013 19:46

There was a cute guy on Masterchef a few years ago called Dean. He should have won!

CPtart · 17/04/2013 20:02
