Thoughts?
How would you pronounce it on first glance?
(For a girl)

Lovely, I know a Romy, pronounced row-me

jennybeadle · 14/04/2013 14:33

Lovely.

I know an adult one and she is sweet and gorgeous. I've heard it pronounced both row-me and ro-me but mainly somewhere in between.

usualsuspect · 14/04/2013 14:34

Love it.

ZolaBuddleia · 14/04/2013 14:36

I love it, also Romilly.

wigglesrock · 14/04/2013 14:36

I love it, but I would say Romy to rhyme with Bomby ifyswim. Although I have just asked my husband and sister and have been told "No, no and thrice no it's Row me"

noblegiraffe · 14/04/2013 14:45

Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion springs to mind. That's how I know how to pronounce it!

Quak · 14/04/2013 14:50

It was on my shortlist (but not DH's)
It's a cool name indeed. Smile

That's the rhyme I was looking for Tommy, makes much more sense than bomby Blush

Yika · 14/04/2013 15:08

Lovely name, I pronounce it to rhyme with tommy. I much prefer it to
Romilly.

clemonmeringuepie · 14/04/2013 16:26

I would have had that name but dh did not like - but we would have pronounced it Row (a boat, not argue) - mee.

When I joined mn my first username was Romy7. Within minutes of my first post, I had a message from an mner asking if she knew me in rl.

I was totally freaked Grin

It is a bit more common now!

Row.Me.

missmapp · 14/04/2013 16:30

We were out today and heard a father call after a little girl- 'Romily' which sounded lovely.

fussychica · 14/04/2013 16:33

Nice but prefer Romilly which is lovely.

Goldensunnydays81 · 14/04/2013 17:56

I love it! I also know a Roma which I think is very lovely too!

barbben · 14/04/2013 18:28

i love it!

Thirstysomething · 15/04/2013 16:47

It is on our shortlist - I knew one as a child who pronounced it Row-me (to rhyme with sew, not wow!). It was originally a nn for Rosemary I think?

BarbieDahl · 15/04/2013 16:50

Row me. Love it

BarbieDahl · 15/04/2013 16:53

Reminds me of Romy Schneider - a german/austrian/french actress. I think her full name was Rosemarie

Gorjuss · 15/04/2013 16:57

I have a Romy so yes of course I love it. She gets called Romany sometimes which can be annoying x

KittenOfDoom · 15/04/2013 23:11

It's Roh-me, to rhyme with foamy.

If it was meant to rhyme with Tommy it would have 2 m's.

nooka · 16/04/2013 03:39

I know a grown up and rather formidable Romy (Roh-me). I think I'd like it more as a shortening for a longer name, but that's just because I like names with options.

SkinnyLove · 16/04/2013 03:48

Romy is a great name. How about michelle for a middle name?!

PrincessOfChina · 16/04/2013 04:32

I have a Romilly. We assumed she would become a Romy over time (and she still may) but at the moment we don't shorten it.
