which one of these 3 Italian girl names?

what do you think about these three:
Sophia
Daria
Lucia?
Both pro and contra arguments greatly appreciated!

Lucia is beautiful. Sophia too, although if you're in the UK some will pronounce it Soph -ee-a, and some Soph-eye-a. Don't like Daria.

Sofia is the Italian spelling, I love that and Lucia not so keen on Daria

Sofia would be Italian spelling and is my favourite of the 3.

Are you in the UK? Because beware the Loochia/Loothia conundrum if you are, depending on whether people think you have chosen an Italian or a Spanish name.

Daria is clumpy and masculine sounding I always think.

I keep hearing about how popular Sophia is nowadays. I've also heard from an adult Louisa that she used to be nicknamed "loo" at school, so I wonder if this could happed to a Lucia.

Think "Lou" not loo...looby lou... You can't always predict what nn children will call classmates or adults adopt but Lou loo is probably a safe bet.

That said, it wouldn't put me off Lucia. Fwiw I have heard people say they'd be put off using Sophia or Sophie because of 'sofa'!

If you like the name enough I bet you'll let a nn roll off.

Haven't heard of anyone I know picking Daria, it wouldn't be overused.

Sofia is n 1 girl's name in Italy at the mo.

I have an almost 8 year old Sofia, she gets Fia sometimes as nickname. It's a lovely name when you hear it said out loud.

I like Lucia too, but you might have some different pronunciations, but usually people only need to be told once

I don't like Daria as much.

@NotTreadingGrapes - in some other countries too, in Russia, for example. It is n 2 in Germany. We have quite a common surname, so i wonder if it would just sound incredibly bland in combination with such a popular name?

Daria reminds me of that American cartoon character. Not in a good or bad way, thought I'd mention it!

I don't think Sofia would ever sound bland. It's too classy!

how about the nicknames then: Fifi for Sophia, Lucie or Lou for Lucia, Dasia (Da-sha or Dasiya) for Daria? I must admit i quite prefer the third one, the other two are just so...girly

They are all nice. All are very elegant.

"loo chi uh" is the Italian PN. "loo sha" is more of the Turkish/Cypriot pronunciation.

I love Lucia but my OH thinks one Italian name in the family is enough. Going to get Luca in if this one turns out to be a boy though!

All good names but Sophia is very popular. I think four of DD1's classmates have sisters named Sophia. Daria would definitely be the most unusual of the bunch (and I like Daria; I liked the animated series so I have good associations).

Not keen of Daria and Sofia/Sophia and Lucia are nice with Lucia being the more unusual.

I also like Alessia nn Lessi

I considered Daria for my dd until someone mentioned that she would be called diarrhoea at school.

I love Lucia but I'm kind of biased as I've chosen Lucinda as my dd2 name for when she is born so the names are very similar variations of each other,only in spelling mind,not pronunciation xx
