Girls Name That Goes With Chloe

Having a few issues (mainly with family members) over choosing a nice name for our second child-it's been hinted by ultrasound technician that we're having a girl but won't be confirmed until 20wk scan....regardless we have settled on a boys name but our current girls name of choice has gone done like a lead balloon with both sides of our family!

We already have a little girl (3.8) called Chloe Elizabeth and our current name for baby-if girl-is Lucinda,which we will mostly shorten to Luci (as in Lucy) but none of our family like it even though me and my DH love it! What also adds to the debate within the family over Lucinda is that family all like the name Lucy but just not Lucinda! Problem is that the name Lucy is terribly common here in Essex and while we are happy for our (potential) DD2 to be called Luci (Lucy) as a nn we simply just don't want her to BE a Lucy,if that makes sense!? If she gets called other varying nn such as Luce,Cindy or Cinderella (as my sister mocked) then that's fine by us,just don't want an "official" Lucy for a dd and think Lucinda makes a lovely longer variation on such a common name! Please tell me someone can see our point and agrees with us?!

Also we would like some other names to consider,just in case something else takes our fancy or something we could use as a middle name please? All names beginning with C are out as are any popular names and Alice is already on our list of possibilities.....also after reading loads of threads on here the name Orla is out and so are all the "granny" names-such as Margaret and we don't want anything unisex or too unusual or difficult to pronounce/spell. Probably doesn't leave many names left really but we're really fussy!

What about Lucia or Lucille as alternatives to Lucinda (I prefer Lucinda). If you and your husband like it I don't think you should let your family put you off it.

I don't really like Lucinda and agree with your family that if she is going to be Luci then why not go for Lucy.
I like Lucy!

Loving the fact that the first thing the OP specifies is no names beginning with C ... and the first two posters offer up C names.

I love the name Lucinda - much prefer it to Lucy, it is so much more substantial. It's also timeless - a Lucinda could be any age; it's not overly linked with any particular era. Seriously - sod your family and go with it. They will come round in no time.

Another L name which I really love at the moment is Louisa. A rare beast that is an elegant, timeless, classic with lots of nn potential, not popular, but instantly recognisable.

Lucinda is lovely! (unlike drippy sounding Lucy which is one of my pet hates!)

I love the name Lucy, but don't like Lucinda at all.

Louisa is lovely and goes well with Chloe.

I'm a Chloe. My daughter is Lydia. We also considered Lucille which I really liked but it didn't sound right with our very yorkshire sounding surname.

Thanks for all ur suggestions,a couple have stuck out (Erin in particular) but not moved us from Lucinda so we've added them to our list but a lot of the suggested names are those of people and/or their kids which is something we are trying to avoid this time around after realising that we know of 6 Chloes when we decided to call our dd1 that but I'd had that name picked out since I was 10yrs old and refused to change it for anyone lol.

The thing we can't get is that if our family members all like Lucy then why does it matter to them so much if we call her Lucinda as they can/will spend the rest of their lives calling her Luci anyway! She will basically be a Lucinda on paper-and when she's in trouble!-but in general day to day use she will be Luci,so we really can't understand what all the fuss is about and why they're protesting so much! I personally wouldn't call my child half the names they've suggested or called their own kids (dh is 1 of 6) so why they expect us to go along with every and any name they come out with kinda annoys us,think they sometimes forget its OUR baby and OUR job to pick a name WE like,not theirs-as harsh as that sounds!xx

Im a Lucy and my daughter is Chloe! My name is short for Lucia (pronounced loo-sha not loo-see-ya)

Oooo Lucia said as loo-sha and loo-see-a are both nice,will add them to our list,got a feeling family won't like it though-they seem to like everything that's common as muck where we are-like Lucy and Amelia-or names we consider plain like Sarah or Sophie!
My sister in particular seems to like names I think are better suited to dogs than people-such as Tilly and Bonnie (which is actually my MIL dogs name!),having said that she isn't remotely maternal and would choose a puppy over a baby any day so I'm not inclined to listen to any of her suggestions lol! My mil seems to alternate from being stuck in an 80s time warp to coming out with incredibly chavvy names (mackenzie!yuck!that's a chavvy brand of clothing not a childs name imo) with her suggestions so we're not listening to her anymore either lol!XxX

I met up with family in Germany at Easter. My Cousin's daughter is pregnant and having a boy. They aren't telling anyone the name until he arrives which I think is very very sensible. Personally I would call her what you and your DH want to.

I think you should call her whatever you like. Choose something you both love and stop asking them all. The ones who are parents called their babies their choices and the others will choose names for their babies in the future. You might like some of them, you might not. It doesn't matter.

If you like Lucinda, then go for it.
