Henry.

Does it stand the test of time in 2013 and beyond?
How will Henry fair in high school, the at the pub, getting his girl, becoming a man and so on?

Opinions welcome for Henry James

I love Henry. Was my choice if I ever had a third. Definitely stands the time test for me.

BNmum · 09/04/2013 15:12

Lovely name, will stand test of time and suits baby, boy, man.

Lighthousekeeping · 09/04/2013 15:28

It's a lovely name but I know four born in the past year. Really, really popular.

I know a baby Henry, a 3 yr old Henry, a teenage Henry and a Henry who is in his 40's
Getting popular though.

NotTreadingGrapes · 12/04/2013 07:22

I think, like George/Harry/Jack etc, it used to be a cross-class cross-ages name, then became posh, and now is approaching the levels of popularity that make it Not Posh without making it "common".

I don't like it personally, but yes, because of its popularity, there will be enough of them for it not to sound daft on babies or adults.

Lovely!

dolallymum · 12/04/2013 07:34

Love Henry. It suits any age.

Locketjuice · 12/04/2013 08:01

Lovely Smile

Henry is fine for all ages. One of the few sensible name suggestions I've seen on here. Well done for thinking ahead to how it will suit him in the future.

We have given all four of our children this sort of name (in fact Henry is one of DS2's middle names).

I love the fact that no one has ever pronounced or spelled any of their names wrongly. None of them have ever gone through a phase of disliking their name.

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/04/2013 08:09

I've a nearly 9 year old Henry and there aren't that many around here - its a lovely name.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 12/04/2013 08:10

All four of them have a name that's in the top 100 (two of the boys have a name in the top ten). This has never been a disadvantage and I don't really understand why people on here worry so much about popular names. DS2 has two other children in his class with the same first name. It doesn't bother him at all; in fact he loves it!

ImaHexGirl · 12/04/2013 08:12

Have a DS now 5 called Henry James - still love the name and can't imagine him being anything other than a Henry! Never had any negative comments about it when we chose it.

Doilooklikeatourist · 12/04/2013 08:15

I know a lovely Henry , age 9 .
His family wanted a strong name , so named him after Henry Cooper .

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/04/2013 08:17

My FIL asked if we'd named him after the hoover Wink

crispsarenotoneofyour5aday · 12/04/2013 08:21

I've a 13 year old Henry - great name! (But he HATES it when people call him "Hen" and always pulls them up on it...)

cheekbyjowl · 12/04/2013 08:24

Yup it is the name of a novelist, but a good one..he wrote a portrait of a lady and some great novellas. James henry is also nice.

raisah · 13/04/2013 14:22

It is name the stands the test of time and classes.

My granddad was Henry, he was a beautiful, friendly man. Such a lovely name, my son has Henry as a middle name.

thermalsinapril · 13/04/2013 23:23
