ok our 3 chosen names (with surname) are:

Jack Rooney...a good boys name, but partner thinks it's too common! :(
Harrison Rooney...although I am worried it will get shortened to Harry
Kyle Rooney...we are Scottish

He will have a middle name but I feel we need to get by this stage first.

Please let me know your thoughts! :)

I like Kyle the best.

ZolaBuddleia · 24/03/2013 16:53

I prefer Harrison. I'd be put off by the popularity of Jack, and Kyle is in the same bracket as Jayden and Mason for me.

PhyllisDoris · 24/03/2013 16:54

Jack is my favourite.
I'm one of those who doesn't like surnames used as first names, which rules Harrison out, and not keen in Kyle.

ZolaBuddleia · 24/03/2013 16:54

Posted too soon!

Kyle feels a bit of a modern creation, although I don't know whether it actually is!

BuggedByJake · 24/03/2013 16:54

I only like Jack.

Ruprekt · 24/03/2013 16:55

Definitely NOT Kyle!

Naughty boys name!!

Jack is fab and I do like Harrison too.

Spiderfrommars · 24/03/2013 16:56

Jack is my favourite

Piemother · 24/03/2013 16:58

God don't start the Jayden argument! He he
I like Harrison

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/03/2013 17:01

They all sound like 'lovable rogues' but especially Jack. To me, it sounds a bit too much like a cheeky chap in literature.
I don't like Harrison.
Kyle sounds best to my ear, and I disagree re it being a 'naughty boy' name, as I've taught a couple of nice ones.

GoSuckEggs · 24/03/2013 17:06

kyle - sounds VERY common and IMO chavvy.

Harrison - my friends babys name, I like it but not with your surname.

Jack- my brothers name, good strong name. All the Jacks i know are full of character and cheeky!

jkklpu · 24/03/2013 22:39

Jack is fine.
Prefer Keir to Kyle.
Don't like Harrison.
Tammas?

nooka · 24/03/2013 22:45

ds had a friend called Harrison, and he was pretty much universally called Harry by all the boys (not his mum though) so I suspect that's quite likely to happen.

Jack has been very popular for a long time. I also refer Keir to Kyle, but that's more because I think Keir is very cool Grin

Yfronts · 24/03/2013 22:57

Jack

ladymia · 24/03/2013 22:58

Out of your list I like Jack the most, despite it's popularity it's the better out of the 3.

Kyle i see as dated and just not that keen on Harrison because it's so close to Harry, THE most popular name!

coribells · 24/03/2013 23:02

I like Harrison

soontobeslendergirl · 24/03/2013 23:16

Scottish too and I agree about Kyle.

Jack is fine - I loved this name but it became too popular for me.

prefer Harris to Harrison, that would have to be the pick of the bunch for me and I think it is less likely to be shortened to Harry.

I like Keir, but then I have a Ciar so I am biased :o

Not too sure of the running in of the two Rs together though, Keir Rooney.

What about Luke? Similar sound to Jack but a bit less common.

or a bit more Scottish:

Craig Rooney
Scott Rooney
Euan Rooney
Greg Rooney
Callum Rooney
Cairn Rooney

or similar feel to Jack

Joe Rooney
Sam Rooney
Adam Rooney
James Rooney

gillywillywoo · 24/03/2013 23:23

Jack or Harrison.

Jack sound best with your surname.

Kyle is just.... NO Blush

Laquila · 25/03/2013 11:50

I'm not keen on Kyle but I love Keir. I think Jack Rooney works well. Harrison would def get shortened to Harry but both are nice.
