As one of 5 Lynsey's in my class at school I want to be sure my DD ( due in June) has a unique but not overly weird name that she's not having to constantly spell/ correct spelling of.
We've chosen Fern/ferne/fearne but wasn't sure of the right spelling.
What version is the most normal do you think? As we'll go for that to give her an easy life! X

The first one.

Cordial · 24/03/2013 09:56

Number 1 I think.

MolotovCocktail · 24/03/2013 14:31

I prefer how Fearne looks, but agree Fern is the most 'normal'; simplest, will give her least problems.

Thank you ladies x

Agree with Molotov :)

I prefer Fearne, but have no logical reason why.

ThreeMenFromCarntyne · 24/03/2013 20:23

Fern

Also agree with Molotov x

Fern

Nice name. Like it.

I like the name Lindsay too though! I can believe there are five ways of spelling it. I knew a Linzey and a Lindsay and I don't think the Lindsay had any less trouble with her name than the Linzey did.

Fearne - lovely, feminine and elegant.

Fern looks masculine/harsh and reminds me of the plant.

Lancelottie · 25/03/2013 12:58

Our school at one point had
Lindsay x3
Lindsey x5
Lyndsey x2
Linzi
and Lynsey

Oh, and the boys school had two Lindsays...

Fern is the best spelling imo. When I was little I had a friend whose sister was called Fern, and I always thought what a lovely name it was.

Mayanna, the name is after the plant! Would you spell Daisy differently because it looks like the flower otherwise? Genuine point, not being facetious.

It's lovely how names are influenced by nice people! I used to have a lovely friend names Gertrude who actually made that name nice hehe x
