Here's the shortlist of baby names I'm considering that I generated with Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder. Let me know what you think.

These are first and second names, we've narrowed it down to 3 for each gender, but we're still not quite sure, opinions please? :)

Boys
Akai Oliver

Kason Bailey

Denver Bradley

Girls
Tegan Imogen

Ember Echo

Jaianna Bonnie Marie

I will be no help because I do not like any of those names but since you asked for opinions: they all either sound a bit American or some even made up. The only one normalish sounding is Imogen which reminds me of that woman that slept with the footballer (i think that's what made her famous?) and recently had a baby?

But well done for being so organised! I am still struggling with one name and my due date was two days about and you have 3 of each gender WITH middle names! :)

Good luck.

FriggFRIGG · 18/03/2013 23:31

I don't really like any of them in the combinations they're in,sorry.

Out of all of them,I like these best;

Imogen Marie
Imogen bonnie
Bonnie Marie
Marie Imogen

And Oliver is okay.

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 18/03/2013 23:42

I think they are all a bit odd sounding.
Sorry .

farmersdaughter · 19/03/2013 08:54

honesty I don't think any of those combinations work together.

I agree with other post on maybe swapping the middle names around for first names.

Imogen, Bonnie and Marie are lovely names as are Oliver and Bradley. I know too many dogs called Bailey Smile

BunnyLebowski · 19/03/2013 08:59

With the exception of Bonnie and Imogen they are all utterly hideous and laughably made-up.

Ember Echo sounds like a local rag.

WormCanner · 19/03/2013 11:39

Chav Central. Wink

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/03/2013 20:20

Oliver or Imogen. The rest are dreadful. Sorry but they are.

EvenIfYouSeeAPoppy · 19/03/2013 20:24

Oliver and Imogen are nice. Marie is OK. Bonnie is OK as a nickname but I wouldn't be putting it on the birth certificate. The rest are awful - sorry. I dislike the term 'chav' intensely but you will, especially with your planned boys' names, be consigning your child to have particular assumptions made about him or her.

InkleWinkle · 19/03/2013 20:56

Do you have other children? What are they called?

ErikNorseman · 19/03/2013 21:35

They are all completely, utterly awful. Sorry.

CassieSamAndBump · 19/03/2013 21:56

This is our first baby, and both Kason and Akai are names from my partners side of the family which is why we like them, and I do not believe people would be so small minded to judge someone on the name which their parent chose for them.
Thank you to those who gave useful comments, we are taking about maybe switching the names abit, however neither of us want a child with a common name as in our opinion they're just becoming rather outdated.

The only one I can even comment on is Ember as I know and love one and therefore think the name is marvellous.

I dont like anything else o your list.

birdofthenorth · 19/03/2013 21:59

I like Ember a lot, though not with Echo. I like Marie too, and Bonnie, though I think that's a hard name to carry into adulthood if she happens to be less than stunning!

I like Oliver best from your boys names although it is insanely popular. Used to like Bailey but have rapidly give off it over the years, sorry.

IHeartKingThistle · 19/03/2013 22:03

I like Bonnie, Marie and Bailey.

ErikNorseman · 19/03/2013 22:23

Are they foreign names from his cultural background? In that case IABU. People certainly are that shallow though, believe me.

FriggFRIGG · 20/03/2013 10:15

People absolutely will make assumptions based on the name you choose.
There is no getting around it.

Eskino · 20/03/2013 10:23

Ember is lovely but is a chain of pubs here.

Akai is the name of a company that make music production equipment.

The others are a bit funny to my ears and eyes and I'm not even sure that the last girls name on your list isn't just a sort of, well, noise.

You have Oliver though, which is quite nice.

soontobeslendergirl · 20/03/2013 11:21

The difficulty with choosing unusual names and then asking for opinions is that the reason they are unusual is because the majority of people don't particularly like them. That's no reason not to choose one and no reason that it wont become popular in the future either. Just saying if you ask for an opinion you will probably get more negative comments than positive.

Again, I have to say they are not particularly my taste but from the boys, Denver would be my choice - I think Austin is on the same lines but is a bit more user friendly :o I also know a Dallas.

Ember Marie probably from your girls combinations but keeping the names in First name choice/middle name choice order.

I guess the last girls name is pronounced Jay anna? Jenna is a nice alternative too or maybe Avery?

WormCanner · 20/03/2013 13:18

Nah, Austin is derived from Augustine, so it's a saint name.

soontobeslendergirl · 20/03/2013 13:25

worm and....?? I know where the name comes from, it doesn't make it not along the same lines as the OP is looking at, she'd just be using a different inspiration for it i.e. US place names.

WormCanner · 20/03/2013 13:55

The point being that I don't see it as principally a place name - unlike Denver or Dallas.

CassieSamAndBump · 20/03/2013 14:51

Denver is actually a old english name, it means 'green vally', it also has some french origins and was about before america was, I'm not planning on naming my child after a state, I've just always liked the name :)

Slavetothechild · 20/03/2013 15:31

Well i like them, especialli denver , ember echo and tegan . Cassie we seem to be in the elite minority ! :)

sandberry · 20/03/2013 15:46

Tegan Imogen is nice, isn't Tegan a Cornish name?
I like Ember but not with Echo. I always think of Echo as a boy's name.
Jaianna does sound made up and bit too girly.

I don't love any of your boys' choices but if Akai and Kason are family names then go with them.

soontobeslendergirl · 20/03/2013 16:15

Tamar is another name I would associate as being like Tegan - I think the only Tegan I have come across is Teagan.
