This is my list of names, from the MN name finder, which I think are nice. DP has said no to almost all of them but he also hasn't come up with any good alternatives. Finnan is the front runner at the moment (Finnan as a full name but generally known as Finn) but I don't know if I like it enough to use it?

I'm 37 weeks PG. Please inspire me with your clever suggestions Smile

Arlo
Devon
Dylan
Eden
Finn
Finnan
Lucas
Milo
Mylo
Noah
Quinn
Reuben
Roman
Tristan

The combinations of Finn (Finley, Finlay, Finnian, Finnan, Finton, Phineas etc) must be very high up the popularity charts. Ten years ago I didn't know a single Finn, now we know about five under age 10!

Eden is lovely but I have to agree with CPtart that it sounds more like a girl's name to me. We know some friends of friends who called their son Eben, which I think is nice, and quite unusual (pronounced Ebben, rather than Eeben). I love Reuben and Roman (although...Polanski) and I also love Lucas. I think you would regret Devon. Finn and Finnan are lovely, although initially I read it as Fnnian, which I think might not be a real name but I maybe like even more!

Isambard
Hawthorne
Dashiell

Artemis is not a boy's name (whatever Artemis Fowl might have done for things), she is the Greek goddess of virgins, midwifery and hunting. One of our cats (also male) was called Artemis by his breeder. We have given him a male but equally unusual name. I really like Tristan from your list, it is classic and a strong sounding name.

You may just have to meet your DS before you can name him. That happened to me and my DH. We had a big long list, but once we met him, we realized DS just wasn't any of those. Ended up with a totally different name.

I'm a week away from having DC2, don't know boy or girl but I'm also stumped when it comes to boys names. Have come to the conclusion that I just don't love any boys names that much! From those mentioned here though I like Robin and Tristan, and might end up with one of these myself! Think I will have to wait to meet baby first and get some inspiration.

Finnan is, in fact, a Scottish name, not Irish as your website suggests. It has Scottish gaelic origins. St Finnan worked alongside St Columba on Iona in the 6th century and the name appears in many Scottish places . It is often shortened to Finn and has variants : Finan and Finnean. The Irish version is Finnian.

From your list I love Arlo & Milo.

Silas,
Seth,
Cyrus?

FromageFrog · 10/08/2013 18:17

Love Robin but mens names are nearly always shortened so would assume he would eventually become 'Rob' which I hate.

Reuben is on my list but rising in popularity quickly.

Both my boys are apparently 80s chic Confused

My favourite from your list is Reuben, followed by Noah. I quite like Tristan but it makes me think of James Herriot, not helped by the fact the only one I know IRL is a vet.
Eden I would assume was a girl. Finn is in the Millie/ Amelia/ Lily category because of all the Finley and variants around.

Can't you keep your long list until you meet him? He may just 'look' like a ........

Mine is Cole I was going to call him Nicholas and use Cole but my mum kept saying Nicky so I went for Cole as a name on it's own

Middle name Alexander because Cole sounded like it needed to be follow up by a long middle name.

It's known enough not to be weird but i've only met 1 other Cole so far

ncforprivacy · 11/08/2013 00:34

I couldn't decide on a name for ds2 until I saw a thread on here, where a poster mentioned the name Zennen, so I nabbed it for ds2 :)

I'm not so sure about Finnan if I'm honest, I prefer just Finn

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/08/2013 00:36

You can't go wrong with Duncan.
Or Gavin or Adrian.

devonsmummy · 11/08/2013 01:47

I also had - (that I can remember!).

I had exactly the same issue as you, lots I like (any many one your original list) but none I really thought 'that's my boy' - until a couple weeks ago, so it will come to you eventually, I'm sure!

Some further suggestions, sorry if repeated:

Carter
Fabian
Saul
Elias
Seth
