Thoughts on baby name "Selene"?

What do you think of the baby name Selene?
Grandmother's names are Samantha and Adeline, thought we might commemorate them with Selene.

I like it pronounced seh-LEEN although seh-LEE-nee is the traditional Greek pronunciation. It means "goddess of the moon".

I love its meaning and the connotation but aren't sure if it sounds a bit silly? (Also not keen on its sounding like the word "saline" Wink)

Thoughts?

Not good.

Saline solution was the first thing that came to mind after thinking you had spelled Selina wrong!

Hmm. It doesn't offend me, but doesn't thrill me either. Why don't you go for Adeline Samantha - Adie for short?

Hoping the SAY-len and seh-LEEN will be enough that the connection isn't too blatantly obvious?
Devora: I like your suggestion for Adeline Samantha, but I'm not too big a fan of either name.

It's OK, and a lovely sentiment. I prefer Celine/ Celene, but understand why you want to use the S.

I quite like Selene!

Would Selena be enough of a compromise? Think it sounds a little softer.

Try as I might I can't bash those two names together into anything nice! Grin I also struggle to get to Samantha from Selene.

What about Della? Means noble. Poor Samantha's out in the cold though. Grin

Much prefer Selina. Could that be an option?
