DS3 due tomorrow and thought we had names sorted until DH suddenly said he was sad none of his 3 sons will have his name.I don't mind using his name, but don't want it as a 1st name or as the only middle name but don't mind it in the middle of the 2 we have chosen. Is it too much to have 2 middle names though?my other DSs only have 1 each.

Why can't it be the only middle name? No harm in having two though.

BigGiantCowWithAKnockKnockTail · 10/03/2013 17:23

DD has two middle names, one from my side of the family, the other from her dad's. It always made sense to me to do it that way.

Nicole007 · 10/03/2013 17:24

Think having 2 middle names is absolutely fine!

Bowlersarm · 10/03/2013 17:25

DS1 has one middle name. DS2 and DS3 both have two middle names. They are all just about in their teens now, and not one of them has noticed yet there is a difference.

onedev · 10/03/2013 17:29

We're exactly the same as Bowlers - DS1 has 1 middle name & DSs 2&3 have 2 middle names. They're all age 6 & under but so far none seem to mind Grin

NervyWervy · 10/03/2013 17:38

I have 2 middle names and enjoy it!

AtiaoftheJulii · 10/03/2013 17:39

2 of mine have two, 2 only have 1. It's not an issue :-)

5madthings · 10/03/2013 17:40

Its find, two of my five have two middle names and the other three just have one middle name :)

BriAndLottie · 10/03/2013 18:15

My DD has two, she shares her first name with my foster mother, then she has a middle name which she goes by and a second middle name which is her actual middle name IYSWIM. Her having two middle names has never been a problem, even with the added complication of her being known by one of her middle names.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 10/03/2013 18:21

Both mine have 2 middle names...it's fine.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 10/03/2013 18:23

Oh,DP and I also have two middle names each, and neither of us have ever had a problem with them either.

Happiestinwellybobs · 10/03/2013 18:30

DD has 3 middle names - bit of a bugger when it comes to filling forms in, but she came with 2 middle names when we adopted her. We kept one and we wanted to give her a link to our family history. People do pass comment that it seems a bit posh - I can assure them any child of mine is anything but Grin

BeeBopDingALing · 10/03/2013 18:49

Both of mine have 2 middle names, can't see a problem with it. More of a benefit really as it gives them more choice when they are older.

Rhubarbgarden · 10/03/2013 19:38

Lots of people do it. It wouldn't be my choice personally as it feels excessive to me.

noddyholder · 10/03/2013 20:11

A bit z list sleb

OkayHazel · 11/03/2013 00:30

2 names is fine, but I'd want all my kids to have the same number. Not too sure why, just big on the equality of siblings I suppose. Probably doesn't bother anyone else!

LazyMonkeyButler · 11/03/2013 00:35

I always wanted to give my DCs 2 middle names. DH (who has no middle name himself), thought that 1 was fine but any more was excessive. We made an agreement 17 long years ago that any DSs we had would have 1 middle name & any DDs would have 2.

DS1 is 16, DS2 is 12 - both have one family-related middle name. I had to wait until two years ago to have a DD & finally get to choose 2 middle names Grin.

akaemmafrost · 11/03/2013 01:27

Both of my dc have two. Family names. Ds has his grandfathers middle names as his two and dd has two family names as her two. They all go well together IMO.

SashaSashays · 11/03/2013 01:36

All 5 of my DC have 2 middle names, the second of which is cultural. Never caused any problems, its a bit like having a double barrelled name.

MusicalEndorphins · 11/03/2013 01:43

Both of mine have 2 middle names. Makes it much easier for genealogy purposes in the future too. I think it is very odd that my husband, his dad and his grandad have no middle names at all.

Polyethyl · 11/03/2013 01:50

My husband has no middle name.
I have 3 middle names.
Our daughter has 2 middle names.

It really doesn't matter how many middle names you have. I have always enjoyed the slight unusualness of my plethora of names.

sashh · 11/03/2013 03:24

I'd think twice, not about the middle names but about only one having his father's name, and him not being the eldest. It might look a bit like favoritism.

MummyPig24 · 11/03/2013 13:15

Ds has 2 middle names, his grandfathers names. Dd only has one, my mothers name, if we had another girl she would have mils middle name as her middle name, another son would have 2 middle names, mine and dhs brothers names.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 11/03/2013 13:57

'Z list cleb' really? no, am not a z list cleb myself and have 2 middle names.

Go for it OP!
