Which is considered the 'traditional' spelling for a boy's first name?

Ignore this, dp just found a thread on here & it seems Finlay is the traditional spelling.

Fionnlagh is the true original spelling. Finlay is the anglicised spelling.

Findlay is from the surname, and Finley is a modern take on Finlay.

Glad that's all sorted out

badtime · 10/03/2013 14:53

... and Finn (Fionn) is a name in its own right.

Arithmeticulous · 10/03/2013 15:04

Go Phineas, gwan gwan

badtime · 10/03/2013 15:06

I like 'Fintan' best of the 'fin' names.

munchkinmaster · 10/03/2013 17:44

It's a lovely name btw

jkklpu · 10/03/2013 22:51

Finbarr/Fionnbharr too

OkayHazel · 11/03/2013 00:27

Phineas is my fave!

Littlemissexpecting · 11/03/2013 06:37

I'm also considering Finlay. Findlay is more common spelling in Scotland I believe.
