I've got about 5 weeks to go before my second child arrives. It could be a boy or a girl. I'm really panicking that we haven't settled on any names that we both like yet. We're very fussy and I seem to find an excuse not to like anything Confused

We want something unusual, but not silly.

The considered list so far goes something like this:

Girls
Alice - Not unusual, but I like this as it was my Great Grandma's name. Husband isn't keen. (Although it could be a middle name)
Orla - We both loved this but we have no Irish connections. Also, I went off it when I realised it would probably spellcheck to Oral.
Francesca - Possibly a bit too 'posh' for us. Although like the nn Frankie
Clara - Love but a good friend recently used for her daughter.
Lilou - Like a lot, (it's French for Lilly) but I think people might not realise it's pronounced Leelou and think of Lilo-Lil.
Lydia - Nice name, but doesn't feel like the one
Eleri - Nice name, but doesn't feel like the one
Eliza - This is in my family tree so there's a nice connection, but again, it doesn't feel like the one

Boys
Rocco - We were quite settled on this, until we realised that a google search for this name with our surname returns hundreds of hardcore porn websites Shock
Oakley - I like this but Husband isn't too keen. Wouldn't want people to think son was named after a sunglasses brand.

That's it. Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Flora? Cecily?
Love Lydia and Lilou!

What about Hector, Ralph, Rocky, Bear?

I also think Alicia instead of Alice! It sounds more interesting I think. My daughter is called Isabella and I love girl names that end in A. They sound really sophisticated. My son is called Sebastian and my baby boy will be called Santiago. Unusual but not difficult to pronounce and no different pronunciations. Hope it helps x

We have Irish connections and Orla is our first choice. All the Orlas we know in Ireland spell it this way, it depends exactly how old you want to go with the Irish, Orfhlaith for example! I don't think you need Irish links, it's a lovely name.

Alice over Alicia 100% but I'm the opposite from Lucia above in that if there are two versions I always prefer the simpler one (Claire over Clara, Isobel over Isabella, Helen over Helena etc etc)

Fair enough! Everyone is different :-)

As someone who.wants to use Aoife woth no Irish connection, then Id say go for Orla. I also love Alice. Not fussed on the rest.

I dont really like the boy names but can I suggest
Rex
Otis
Gus
Travis

Indeed Lucia - but it's funny that both the names I like for girls end in A! usually I go the other way :)

Alice is a lovely name -and not overly popular (i.e. there are always quite a few around but it's not a faddy name) Definitely would go for Alice over Alicia - you will always get people questioning the pronunciation of Alicia too (as I have know some people to pronounce it Aleesha).
Lydia too is a very pretty name and not over-used. How about Elodie - one of my favourites? Isobel/Isabelle are nice too - although very very popular which would put me off.
