TenthMuse - go on, be brave re Cassian Grin I have a Cassian and I have only had positive comments about his name. None of our friends had ever heard it before but everyone seemed to genuinely like it when they heard it.

Arlo.

I don't know what on earth I'd do if I had another boy,I can't find another name I love as much,
despite having a very long list of names I like there isn't another I love.

Thanks DoTheStrand - good to hear that people's comments have been so positive. It isn't a name you tend to come across much - first heard of it when reading an article about Anthony Horowitz in which he mentioned his son Cassian, and immediately loved it!

I've been thinking more about my list (I missed Douglas off, by the way). Some of them are names I love but would never really use. I like boys' names that are nicknameable (sp?) and that might rule out things like Atticus and Cyprian. But then they're both such great full-length names and I know of a fantastic Cyprian (he is, perhaps inevitably, an academic). I like names that can be both formal and grand-sounding, but also be shortened for the pub. And I apply exactly the same criteria for girls' names really.
