Timothy?

Just putting it out there. Still have a few weeks to decide, but I keep coming back to Timothy.

It's the name of a much-loved uncle, although that's not the main reason I've chosen it.

To be honest, I wouldn't choose it for one of my own but I know a few grown up Tims and they are all really lovely.

Cute as Timothy and I like TIM as a man's name.
Also you could nn him timmy.

NotSureILikeIt · 19/02/2013 11:01

Nice.

SneezySnatcher · 19/02/2013 11:07

Mixed opinions! I do see what you mean about it possibly being a bit 'wet' but it'd be Timothy as a 'Sunday name' and Tim/Timmy most of the time.

I'll keep looking just in case!

I like it. It was on my list before i found out I was having a girl. I don'tget the 'wet' comments.

AmandaPayne · 19/02/2013 13:42

I like it.

Read a book recently where the toddler Timothy had the nickname Moth. I thought that was quite sweet!

Rhubarbgarden · 19/02/2013 13:44

Lovely underused name. A friend of mine has a nine month old Tim (Timothy on BC).

happystory · 19/02/2013 13:49

i like it. he would inevitably get Tim but that's nice on an older child or adult.

rtc8608 · 19/02/2013 14:58

I wouldn't choose it but I'm not really a fan of names which will inevitably be shortened. I also know of an adult Tim who isn't a nice person and it would always remind me of him.

Then again I did have a nice Tim in my class at school and I guess he would be the only one with his name at school if you're looking for something more unusual.

mrstowers · 19/02/2013 19:20

Yes I also think it's a bit wet. Wasn't it the name of the mummys boy character played by Ronnie Corbett in Sorry? Sums it up.

HindsightisaMarvellousThing · 19/02/2013 19:22

Sadly it reminds me of Timmy the dog in Famous Five, and Tim-nice-but-dim.

shufflebum · 19/02/2013 19:23

Another one that thinks its a bit wet, sorry! Much prefer Tom, Thomas as a stronger sounding name

BlueSkySoftSand · 19/02/2013 19:24

It's a nice name, but I too see it as being a bit wet.

Plus, Timmy just reminds me of the sheep in Timmy Time.

SneezySnatcher · 19/02/2013 19:28

I like the name Thomas but, as a teacher, there is a certain lad who has made it a complete no-no for me!

Same goes for William, which is lovely, but we have five in reception at the moment.

We have the most a very common surname so, whilst I love traditional names, I want something that isn't heard too often to compensate.

I like it. I think Terence is due a revival too.

eggso · 20/02/2013 10:42

I know a lovely Tim! Therefore I like it. He isn't 'wet' at all!

squoosh · 20/02/2013 10:57

Ronnie Corbett.
