Thoughts on these girls names?

Morning all, would love any input on these girls names. Also any suggestions for middle names or other similar names.

We have a DS with a name ending in -an and a bit of a mouthful for a surname!

Molly
Poppy
Ella
Matilda
Bethan

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

They are all fine. There are plenty of little girls with those names so none will cause her to standout or be poked fun at. Personally, I prefer Matilda and Bethan as they sound more timeless, classic and grown-up and seem more distinctive than the Ella/Ava/Isla/Eva and Molly/Poppy/Daisy/Milly names in fashion currently. That said, each is a fine name!

If you're looking for other similar names, it's worth checking out the top 100 or so most popular names in the UK because, if you like those 5, you're bang on trend and you'll probably stumble across a lot more that you like. The ONS web site has the data but I quite like this web site's combined spelling list: www.britishbabynames.com/blog/combined-spellings-2011-girls.html

If you're after something a little less mainstream, you might like to consider Polly, Tansy, Carys, Tegan, Elin or Ellen, Catrin, Elodie, Eleanor, Nancy, Willa, Ivy, Zoe, Audrey, Helena, Sally, Naomi, Stella, Arabella, Mirabel, Mabel, Cecily, Hilary, Elizabeth, Elsa, and Estelle.

Bethan isn't my favourite but it will 'match' with your DS's name; don't know if that's a plus or a minus for you. My actual favourite from your list is Matilda.

I like Poppy and Mathilda. Can take or leave the rest. They've been a bit done to death I think.

Love Matilda. None of the others are my cup of tea Smile

I know an Elsa - I think that is a lovely name that is not too over used. It seems quite elegant and feminine to me. I think Elizabeth is her 'long' name. I also like Nina and Francesca for fairly timeless girls' names.

Thanks for opinions. Although they are all fairly popular we live in an area which is very multicultural to the extent that DC will likely be the only white British kids in their classes at school so common is not a problem! Both me and DH have unusual names and have found it extremely irritating.

It's funny that Molly is popular now, we would be using it as it's my Grandma's name! Matilda is my favourite overall I think.

From the other suggestions I like Stella a lot. None of the others grab me, thanks though!
