Hi, I have a lovely friend who is 20 weeks pregnant with a much-longed-for baby; a girl.

She is stuck for names. The family have a short, one-syllable surname. She has a DS already and he has a popular 2-syllable name beginning with I (don't want to say so as to keep mine and her anonymity).

My friend really likes the name Thea, but isn't sure about the sound of it with their surname. I suggested Alethea NN Thea, but I'd love to help her more!

Any suggestions are most welcome :)

TIA x

Dorothea or Theodora with NN Thea?

ClaryCazalet · 15/02/2013 15:28

Dorothea and Althea could both have nn Thea too.

How about:
Martha
Matilda
Imogen (unless she doesn't want two Is)

Does she like biblical names?

MolotovCocktail · 15/02/2013 15:54

Thanks both for your suggestions. I'll have to double-check as to whether she likes Biblical names. I'll post here as soon as I know :)

I love Thea. Don't think it needs to be lengthened. It's on my list!

Thea was on our list when we had DS1, as was Althea and Alethea.

Other names we have had on our list at various times.

Thalia. Similar and might work with their surname?

ClaryCazalet · 15/02/2013 17:29

I wondered from your first post if her ds's name is maybe biblical? In which case she might want something in the same style (or not).

MolotovCocktail · 15/02/2013 17:48

Yes, her DSs name is Biblical Clary - will post back assoon as I know whether she is keen to follow on with that theme.

Thalia - how is that name pronounced, please zimbo?

My friend hasn't yet said about what her opinion is re. Biblical names, but said that she doesn't mind about baby name meanings. I've looked up some Greek names - manly because Thea is of Greek origin. I have to put in the pot:

Altheya (variant of Althea: mode emphasis on the 'ay' sound)
Anatola
Anatolia
Gaia (Guy-a)
Theodosia (nice alt. to Theodora)
