Hugo is quite posh but lovely.

JaneLane · 09/02/2013 18:50

I always think Hugo is a happy name - rather lovely really

JazzAnnNonMouse · 09/02/2013 19:34

Conjures image of posh bumbling man in early 50s for me Smile

peggyblackett · 09/02/2013 19:36

I know a 3 year old Hugo. He is lovely.

Only problem is that it's a very difficult name to pronounce when you're small. My ds calls him fewgo!

JaquelineHyde · 09/02/2013 19:37

Aaaah I quite like the posh bumbling man image Grin

We already have a George and I think it goes quite well.

It was either Hugo or Arthur but DH loves Hugo and is not so keen on Arthur so I caved in.

What is wrong with posh?

The only thing I'm not keen on is the way the H is pronounced in English - heeoo - rather than H as in Harry.

ellesabe · 09/02/2013 20:38

I like it but it's getting quite popular down here (SE). I know 3 under 3yo.

noisytoys · 09/02/2013 20:43

I'm in the SE too and there are 2 Hugo's in DD's reception class. Lovely name though

Snusmumriken · 09/02/2013 20:44

I really like it. Hugo is becoming an incredibly popular name in Sweden. In case you cared!

VBisme · 09/02/2013 20:45

I would pronounce the H in Hugo exactly the same way as the H in Henry.

LittleChimneyDroppings · 09/02/2013 20:46

Hugo is a great name.

PuffPants · 09/02/2013 20:47

If Hugo, I'll go.

theroseofwait · 09/02/2013 20:59

Hugo- mine is almost 3, blonde, ridiculously handsome and has everyone in stitches most of the time. Well, you did say talk about Hugo!!!!!!

Seriously, it's a fab name, most people love it and interestingly mine has a rather lovely elder brother called George. . .

scoutfinch1 · 09/02/2013 21:23

I quite liked it until I suggested it to my mother and when she said it back to me in her Yorkshire accent I realized that both of us would forever be (unintentionally) calling the baby 'ugo or yew go. Even though our accents aren't particularly strong it seems that this is one of the words that it just doesn't work with.

It is nice though if your not from that area of the country!

JazzAnnNonMouse · 09/02/2013 21:48

Nothing is wrong with posh - my dc have what I consider 'posh' names too!
I like it Smile

JazzAnnNonMouse · 09/02/2013 21:49

But I like it with the h sounding not ugo!
So I like it hugh-go Smile

theroseofwait · 09/02/2013 22:35

Erm. . . we live in Yorkshire and don't seem to have any problems with pronunciation!

BlueChampagne · 09/02/2013 23:06

Black labrador

legallyblond · 10/02/2013 07:18

Love it! It's on my list!

Britchic · 12/02/2013 02:34

Very funky name.... (biased....)
